The Two Most… “Interesting” Videos On The Internet This Week.

mgid-uma-video-mtv.com-1068714

I had an interesting time this week combing through articles, photos, and videos on the internet, and two specific things, not only caught my eye, but will cease to leave my mind.  The first of which is the new Samsung Galaxy S7 commercial featuring Weezy himself.  Lil Wayne has said that his debut role in Apartments.com’s Super Bowl ad was “dope” and the “illest idea ever.”  He loved it so much that he’s now taken a new role in Samsung’s Galaxy S7 ad campaign. The rapper said he plans to do more acting in commercials in the future.  Adweek asked Lil Wayne if he’d like to be in more ads and he responded: “Hell yeah, I do … it was kind of different to have to actually follow the rules, and that was cool. Being on the set and knocking it out, it was fun.” The commercial itself is hilarious, and quite “different”.  Check the method below.

The second internet clip that is now seared into my memory, is the Pixar spoof from writers/producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.  “Sausage Party” may look like it’s headed for an NC-17 rating, but the creators assured advanced audiences at SXSW that it has already been awarded an R rating by the MPAA. It is directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon. And it is definitely not for children, so keep them far, far away.  Seth Rogen headlines this adventure as a hotdog just looking to get laid inside a delicious bun. But he soon discovers his destiny lies upon a different path. The film features the vocal talents of a who’s who of today’s comedy stars. The ensemble also includes Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek.  Check the trailer below.

Bollinger Champagne Pays Tribute To James Bond.

James Bond‘s soft spot for the martini is no secret, but a 50-year anniversary requires champagne. Enter a French brand that has decided to fete the spy’s longevity on the silver screen in style, with a box set titled “Bollinger 002 for 007″.  Inside the case, a silencer-styled box inspired by the accessory on Bond’s Walter PKK pistol houses a bottle of champagne. To access the bottle, you have to enter the code 007 and press the iconic pistol logo that is often seen in the film’s opening credits.  Inside the box lies a bottle (boasting a James Bond design) of Bollinger La Grande Année 2002 – “the most exceptional vintage of the past decade,” according to Mathieu Kauffmann, Bollinger‘s chef de cave. The  ”Bollinger 002 for 007″ box set will go on sale for €150 October 1 in select outlets. Skyfall is due to have in the UK on October 23.

Want A Date With Scarlett Jo?

Among the hundreds of lots on offer at Christie’s September wine auction in Hong Kong this month, there’s one in particular that will appeal to more than just wine lovers.  The winning bid for Lot No. 519 will receive a lunch date with Scarlett Johansson and six bottles of 100-year-old Moët et Chandon champagne packed in a special Louis Vuitton leather chest.  The lot is estimated to be worth 380,000 to 500,000 Hong Kong dollars (US$48,700 to $64,100). The proceeds of the sale will go to the Nature Conservancy in China.  Christie’s said that the idea behind the charity lot came from Moët et Chandon itself, which currently retains Ms. Johansson as a celebrity endorser.

Drunken Art.

A company called Bevshots has produced a series of shots of booze under the microscope at the Florida State University’s chemistry labs.  This is Tequila at 1000x magnification.

Tequila

The process consists of letting a droplet of liquor dry out completely on a slide in an airtight container, and photographing the result with a 35mm camera. The entire process can take up to three months and as many as 200 attempts to properly capture the drink’s constituent parts.  Cocktails can have fruit and soft drinks in them which contain citric acids and complex sugars which dry out well and look great photographed.  The incredible shapes and colours of the boozy artwork are highlighted by shining natural light on top and through the bottom of the slide. Just like images of snowflakes, each drink is different.  Bevshots estimate that they have sold over 20,000 examples of their alcoholic art works.
