The Mykonos, Greece Villa.

So after a call that we here at djstormsblog.com put out to Greece, we began to get many an invitation to rent houses.  One of my personal favorites was a sea-side, villa, with pool, and turn-down service.  It was one of the most spectacular homes in Mykonos, but you can check out the full rental profile HERE.

From the beginning, Pretty Beach House set a new standard not just because of its exquisite location and its exclusive home-like setting of just four private villas, but it also exceeded all expectations in terms of cuisine.  We stayed there every year and consistently kept it on our 10 best places to stay list, together with Castello Di Reschio in Italy , El Palauet in Barcelona land Saffire in Tasmania.  But it late 2012, a fire destroyed much of the main pavilion and our favorite resort closed for more than two years for complete restoration.  The main pavilion is elegantly restored with decommissioned railway timbers from 1883 and each of the four pavilions – Treetops, Bayview, Hideaway and The Retreat – are beautifully appointed with works and craftsmanship of local and international artists and artisans.

The resort continues its tradition as a foodies paradise with its spectacularly cool new kitchen led by distinguished chefs and restaurateurs, Stefano Manfredi and Julie Manfredi Hughes, whose incredible cuisine impresses us every single time.  The interior design of the villas is un-pretentious and  beautifully fitting for the environment. Natural fibres, muted colours and restful accents create a perfect setting for the views of the incredible landscape with hundreds of old gum trees standing there like living sculptures.  The villas interiors are luxurious but not over the top and feature raw, natural materials which blend in with the more ‘designer’ elements. Privacy is paramount which is why, three of the four villas also has its own private swimming pool. The villas have their own old school record player along with a selection of vinyl, iPods with songs already loaded on it, king size beds have linen sheets, bathtubs and wireless internet (for online-junkies) so there’s nothing else to do but slide from day bed to pool and back again in a haze of sedation, facilitated by attentive staff who materialise at your every whim.

Matthew Perrys Malibu Beach House

Views of the Pacific abound, as the home’s interiors include wooden beams, large glass windows that radiate a sophisticated kind of laid back chill that only $12 million can buy. Maybe it’s the open floor living plan? Maybe it’s the fact that you can fling your table scraps into the ocean? Either way, the view is worth it alone.

Pusha T Ft. Chris Brown – Sweet Serenade

pusha-t-sweet-serenade-music-video-ft-chris-brown_0

Pusha T gathers a few sexy women for his dark music video “Sweet Serenade,” which sees the Virginia emcee aggressively rapping about the life that he made while celebrating his success. In the Colin Tilley-directed steamy visual, Pusha chills on a beach chair surrounded by bikini-clad, alluring women; one making the booty clap on a stripper pole. Brown lends his support by crooning the smooth chorus.

“‘Sweet Serenade,’ it doesn’t sound really sweet, it’s pretty dark, so to capture that, we came and shot on the beach at nighttime. It gives it that eery feel, but still soothing,” states Pusha.

China Completes The Largest Building In The World

centuryglobal_09

It’s one of the superlatives destined for a record book: ‘what is the world’s largest building?’ a year ago the answer would have been dubai’s international airport terminal 3, but as of july 1st the new century global center in the fiercely-growing mega-city of Chengdu undoubtedly takes the title.  With 1.2 million square feet spread out over 18 stories in a glass and steel structure, the program includes what one might expect for a building of this scale: a 14-screen imax theater, shops, restaurants, offices, hotels, the reconstruction of an entire mediterranean village, an artificial beach with realistic sunsets and sea breezes orchestrated by the help of an LED wall (in a contemporary ‘truman show’ fashion). Also there is a 500,000 ft2 art center next door designed by none other than Zaha Hadid. To make some spatial comparisons, the building could comfortably house three pentagons or 20 sydney opera houses. It’s important to add as well that the entire structure was constructed in just a year, and stands as a testament to the will and ability of the chinese.

MGK – La La La (The Floating Song)

mgk

After putting in the hard work, Machine Gun Kelly enjoys his success in the video for “La La La (The Floating Song),” a bonus cut off his debut Lace Up. The “Wild Boy” rides an ATV, smokes on the beach, and parties on a yacht with his EST crew in the laid-back visuals, which were shot during his holiday vacation in Saint Martin. Security tried to stop him from filming, but he wasn’t about to put down the camera. Next up, MGK will release his new single “Peso” featuring Meek Mills and Pusha T, followed by his mixtape in February.

Philips Lumiware Color Changing Coasters produce a constant light that reflects in the drinks. The tropical and beach style surface is entirely scratch resistant. The LED lights are battery-powered that take last more than 10 hours before getting completely drained. And thanks to Philips for adding a wireless induction charger for hassle-free recharging.
