There’s A New Reason To Recycle… Art.

Once you’re done drinking out of an aluminum can, there isn’t much left to do but recycle it. Not for Japanese artist Makaon, though. He takes these would-be discarded cans and turns them into sculptures featuring characters from popular culture. We see the Super Mario Brothers, Batman, Pikachu, and even Buzz Lightyear crafted out of the various colorful packaging.

To construct these works, Makaon takes small pieces of the aluminum and bends it to form the shapes that he wants. Any given sculpture might have two or three different brands of drinks depending on their color. Coca Cola provides Mario with a bright red hat while Carlsberg Beer gives Yoshi his green sheen. Makaon has also managed to find a label that includes a peachy skin tone in its design, meaning that he can accurately depict the human faces. Each character is angular in shape with a rigid-looking build. But, this doesn’t stop them from feeling like a fun and energetic tribute to the pop culture icons that we know and love.

Engineers at AIO robotics have developed a solution that will now allow users to 3D scan, 3D print, 3D copy, and 3D fax objects from one device. Entitled ‘ZEUS’, the all-in-one electronic device is constructed out of aluminum, powder-coated in a moonstone white, with black anodized side panels. the inclusion of a 7-inch touchscreen gives the machine a welcoming ‘consumer ready’ look. Instead of usin plastic or wood, all linear components are also built using CNC-machined aluminum, including the XYZ-carrier, turntable and external shell. The structure of the 3D copy machine dramatically increases the quality of the prints, preventing deformation and heat soaking. ZEUS is capable of outputting a layer resolution of 100 microns (200 & 300 options available for faster prints) and can print in volumes up to 26cm x 18cm x 15cm in PLA.

Lamborghini Egoista Concept For 50th Anniversary

Powered by a 600 horsepower 5.2-liter V10 engine, the lamborghini egoista celebrates the company’s 50th anniversary with a design by walter da silva, the head of designer of the volkswagen group. The single-seater concept is characterized by two fundamental aspects: its architecture, and the materials used. The cockpit, designed like a tailor-made suit for the driver, is a removable section which, once combined with the rest of the vehicle, creates a perfect technical, mechanical and aerodynamic unit. Influenced by the world of aviation – specifically an apache helicopter – the cockpit can be ejected in an emergency. The cockpit, made completely of  carbon fiber and aluminum, represents a sort of survival cell, allowing the driver to isolate and protect themselves from external elements, they kept an eye on the future when designing the egoista, with the idea that its cockpit could have been taken from a jet aircraft and integrated into a road vehicle, to provide a different travel option.
