Timur Lysenko’s Tattoos

timur-lysenko-07

There is darkness and beauty in Timur Lysenko’s tattoos. His Polish-based tattooer uses gradient shading to create 3D wow-factor portraits and flowers, and then mixes into the compositions flat lines and sweater-style patterns for a contrasting effect. There is a lot of black pigment, and some bright pink or red. The aesthetic and themes are like flashbacks of horror movies; bits of Edward Scissorhands and Beauty and the Beast, as well as Punk Rock music and album covers.

Apartment in Stockholm Encapsulating A Glass-Walled Bedroom

This small apartment in Stockhom, Sweden impressed us with its original layout and stylish decorating scheme. Discovered by Freshome on Svensk Fastighets, the 34 square-meter crib displays comfortable living spaces with a powerful aesthetic appeal. The first interior you are likely to observe upon entering this apartment is the bedroom, creatively separated from the rest of the project through glass walls. Pebbles under the bed, a giant mirror and framed graphics contribute to the Scandinavian personality of this space. A series of accent items such as the coffee table, the candles or the fireplace give the apartment a mixed ambiance, a touch of rusticity and  traditionalism, connecting the crib with the historic character of the building. The living zone, kitchen and dining table are organized in an open layout. And when it comes to Scandinavian apartments, an irresistible terrace is a must. In this case, the small balcony extends living spaces, creating a charming venue for having coffee and breakfast during warm summer mornings.

Space-Saving Suspended Bed in a Modern London Apartment

Good urban architectural design takes space and aesthetic into account, allowing them to work in unison, much like this efficient London apartment in Camden. While some compact residences use a modular design to create the visual effect of more space, this particular English home opts to design vertically by featuring a suspended bed overhead. This innovative apartment allows inhabitants to have more walking room on the ground floor without disrupting the tastefully modern design. The bed hangs above the living area like an elegant, simple balcony with a equally complementing staircase leading up to it. The bed is also situated below a retractable glass skylight that leads to a 500-square-foot rooftop garden. It proves that smaller living spaces don’t mean cramped, unattractive environments.

Sound Activated Kinetic Garments – Incertitudes

ying-gaos-kinetic-garments-move-with-sound-designboom-10

Montreal-based fashion designer Ying Gao presents two new kinetic garments, whose aesthetic details tessellate in reaction to sound. The ‘incertitudes’ series consists of white and silver colored fabric which have been covered in dressmaker pins, outwardly protruding from the textile’s facade. Through a collaboration of mediums and technologies — PVDF plastic, dressmaker pins, and electronic devices — The metallic accessories interact and respond to noise in their environment, activated through the spectator’s voice. Their fluent motion generates a wave-like flux, contracting and expanding the entire wearable object. The clothing’s original function is reappropriated and transposed into a unique aesthetic application.
