Earlier tonight, the ‘Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom’ trailer was released, (after several days of being delayed) it had nowhere near the impact of the Avengers: Infinity War trailer much to the chagrin of Universal. (Avengers 12M YouTube views in 6 hours, Jurassic 4M YouTube views in 6 hours) However, the reactions have generally been quite positive, and as was pointed out to me by a friend, there are some fans of the franchise who believe the Jurassic films can do no wrong. (I just think Jeff Goldblum can do no wrong). Take a look at the trailer (if you haven’t seen it already) and sound off on what you think about this 5th installment.
In Bleed for This, Miles Teller stars as Pazienza in one of sport’s greatest comeback stories: the true-life tale of how the Rhode Island brawler tragically lost almost everything just as he reached the pinnacle of his profession and how he defied medical science and common sense to return to the ring and win another championship belt. In the trailer below, Pazienza works overtime to drop those last few pounds in order to make weight for a 1988 title bout against Roger Mayweather, and thanks to Paz’s male thong at the press conference, it’s clear that Teller (Whiplash) put in the necessary gym work to convincingly portray a boxer. After the car accident, Pazienza is saddled with a halo that is screwed into his skull to help his recuperation, but he refuses to settle for anything but the life he once had. “I’m not done,” Teller says. “I got more in me.” His return to the ring includes some bloody brawls that made Rocky Balboa fights seem tame, but no one who ever got in the ring with Pazienza after his accident wanted it more than he did.
Directed by Ben Younger (Boiler Room) and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Bleed for This opens in limited release on Nov. 4 before going wide on Nov. 23.
The Magnificent Seven is a remake that some people don’t want, however, getting a better look at this second trailer makes all of our writers think folks should wait before making judgment.
Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ The Magnificent Seven. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.
Love or hate the direction Marvel are taking their comics in, there’s no denying that the idea of Victor Von Doom suiting up as the new Iron Man is at least somewhat intriguing. The fate of Tony Stark following the events of Civil War II remains a mystery, but with Riri Williams in one suit and Doom in another, chances are that he could go the same was as Captain America at the end of Civil War. Time will tell on that front, but below you’ll find Alex Maleev’s designs for the Infamous Iron Man. He’ll be providing the artwork in the series for writer Brian Michael Bendis, and there’s no denying that the villain looks pretty cool here. It’s an interesting mashup of the classic Iron Man look and Doctor Doom’s well known armour, and Victor will no doubt be packing some very cool new firepower as well…
Independence Day was one of the first blockbuster’s I remember seeing as a kid, and still remains one of my favorite movies to this day. When I heard there was a sequel being planned, my first question was “what took them so long” and my second question was “what could make this more extreme than the original”. Check out the trailer to see.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have unleashed the new trailer for director Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla which you can watch in the player below. Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on May 16, the film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
Every child at some point envisions themselves as a superhero at one point in their young lives. The thrill of being adventurous, and saving the world is something an imaginative mind cannot resist. Later on in life, people realize that heroes are flawed, and that the hero they thought they could be is a different from the hero they may actually be like the most. Guardians of the Galaxy is Marvel Studios newest addition to the “Phase 2” line up. A rag-tag band of misfits who come together under inopportune circumstances has to save the galaxy after their leader steals an object of incredible power. Marvel’s plan is to use this film to introduce viewers to Thanos (The big purple guy at the end of Avengers), and you can see the link through ‘The Collector’, who appears in the trailer below, and in the post credits scene proceeding Thor 2. But after reading much more of Marvel’s comics, I’m starting to realize that as much as I admired Tony Stark, I may in fact have more similar personality traits to Star Lord. #frown. Football fans are no doubt excited for the 2014 Super Bowl, but even non-sports fans can find something to enjoy. No, we’re not talking about Bruno Mars, we’re talking about the Super Bowl movie trailers that will be airing during the commercial breaks. With the 2014 Super Bowl set to air on FOX at 6pm on February 2, we thought now would be the perfect time to run through what we know is going to debut during the big game and what surprises could still be in store.
Michael Bay confirmed last month that the first ‘Transformers 4′ trailer would run during the 2014 Super Bowl with another theatrical trailer arriving shortly thereafter. What can we expect to see in the big ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ reveal? Hopefully our first look at the rumored Dinobots. Bay’s ‘Transformers’ films haven’t always been the most satisfying movie experiences, but they do give good trailer. Expect the :30 ‘Transformers 4′ trailer to run during the first quarter.
Also confirmed in December was that Sony had purchased a 2014 Super Bowl slot for a new ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ trailer. Unlike ‘Transformers 4,’ we’ve already seen a handful of ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ footage, so we don’t anticipate a major reveal, more like a solid condensing of the existing trailer. It’s possible they’ll use this spot to give more exposure to Rhino and/or Green Goblin, but a safer bet is more concentration on the Spider-Man/Electro battle that has been at the center of the marketing campaign so far.
With Sony’s purchased time, they’d be wise to give one last push to the ‘RoboCop’ remake, which opens 10 days after the 2014 Super Bowl. The film has been tracking on the low end and a big Super Bowl trailer could give it a significant enough boost to its opening weekend numbers. It doesn’t hurt that, to date, Sony has been aggressively promoting the film during the NFL playoffs.
While a ‘Need for Speed’ Super Bowl trailer has yet to be confirmed, there are a few signs pointing in that direction. For one, we know Disney has purchased ad time during the 2014 Super Bowl (‘Need for Speed’ is a DreamWorks film, but is being released by Walt Disney Pictures). Second, ‘Need for Speed’ opens just over a month after the Super Bowl airs and the added promotion could give it the most real impact (in terms of box-office and awareness). Finally, it just seems to fit. Universal had previously used the Super Bowl to advertise it’s flagship racing franchise, but with ‘Fast and Furious 7′ pushed to 2015, the landscape is wide open for ‘Need for Speed’ to hit that demographic.
Summit Entertainment hasn’t confirmed anything, but we’d guess the NFL-approved ‘Draft Day’ (which follows the fictional events leading up to and during the NFL Draft for Cleveland Browns GM, Sonny Weaver (Kevin Costner)) is as much of a slam dunk as anything. The NFL rarely grants Hollywood the license to use its teams, logos and properties in film (‘Jerry Maguire’ is the last one we can think of), so we think it would be foolish if Summit didn’t try to capitalize on the Super Bowl to cross-promote to a football-loving audience.
The ‘Captain America 2′ trailer (and sneak peek with ‘Thor: The Dark World’) was very well-received and we wouldn’t be surprised if Disney and Marvel opted to capitalize on that buzz in advance of the film’s April release. The Helicarrier crash is the big money shot spectacle that goes over well in Super Bowl trailers, so assuming Disney has some space, we think this is a pretty good bet as well.
Lionsgate has purchased time during the 2014 Super Bowl pre-game show and the only film on their roster that would make sense to pay all that money to advertise is their big summer movie, ‘The Expendables 3.’ The early teaser for the film was very much a tease, showing us no actual footage and a 2014 Super Bowl trailer could fix that, giving audiences their first look at Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Statham alongside newcomers like Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson.
20th Century Fox has made a habit out of not commenting on their Super Bowl ad buys, so at this point, we don’t even know if they have purchased a spot or what they plan to do with it. BUT…the 2014 Super Bowl airs on FOX, so why not use their own time to advertise one of their own movies. If a 20th Century Fox movie were to be promoted, it could be the upcoming ‘X-Men’ film, which promises to be one of the biggest movies of the summer. Or…
One could argue that ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ will be one of the biggest movies of the summer regardless of a 2014 Super Bowl trailer. If Fox wanted to promote one of its up-and-coming properties (one with considerably less star power), they could promote this summer’s ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.’ Fox has enough faith in this film to already start developing the upcoming sequel, so why not show off a variation on the teaser trailer?
With ‘Fast and Furious 7′ pushed to 2015, Universal doesn’t have any obvious blockbusters in 2014 and nothing that makes perfect sense for a Super Bowl trailer. But, if they were looking to sneak in, the Seth Rogen/Zac Efron comedy could fit. It doesn’t have to be an action-packed franchise movie to win over Super Bowl audiences – just look at the rest of the commercials. The ones that traditionally get rated the highest are the funniest ones.
MGM has been out of the game for so long, they’re barely considered one of the big movie studios anymore, but they do have the rare big movie coming up. Starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, ‘Hercules’ could be MGM’s chance to make a big splash with their only major movie of the year.
Warner Bros. has opted to sit out this year so one Super Bowl trailer you won’t see (which is one we were really hoping we would see) is ‘Godzilla.’ This also puts ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and ‘Jupiter Ascending’ out as well.
On Tuesday, Marvel’s Iron Man 3 became Disney’s fifth release to cross the $400 million mark at the domestic box office. The film, which has now earned over $1.2 billion and is the #5 film of all time globally, also recently passed Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and is currently the #6 film of all time at the international box office with more than $803 million. After achieving the second-biggest domestic opening in history with $174.1 million, Iron Man 3 crossed the $1 billion threshold globally in 23 days, making it Disney’s sixth billion-dollar and second highest-grossing release of all time, behind only Marvel’s The Avengers.

“Man Of Steel” is one of Warner Brothers’ biggest 2013 releases, so it goes to reason that a new trailer for the film will come attached to prints of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.” (Not that you need to enter Middle-earth to see the latest teaser.) Directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan, “Man of Steel” recalls the oft-recounted origin story for Superman. As the first teasers hinted at, however, this isn’t necessarily your pa’s Man of Steel: Snyder’s film appears to have the earthy look of a Terrence Malick feature mixed with the gravitas of Nolan’s well-regarded Batman trilogy.
Joel Micah Harris has gone and created some amazing pieces of fan art, which portray superheroes as manatees. It’s a little bizarre and utterly random, but you can’t deny that his pictures aren’t amazingly wonderful (not to mention hilarious).
Manatees get a lot of grief for being not overly intelligent, but that doesn’t mean they don’t look great when dressed up as Hawkeye or Wonder Woman. The year 2011 has brought trials, tribulations, beautiful life changes, and incredible opportunities, but one thing has brightened up my year in a unique way that nothing else could have. For another year spent working together, I grabbed my assistant two tickets to see Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and Travis Barker on the ‘I Am Still Music’ tour. Needless to say as the date approaches, the anticipation builds, but when I peeped Wayne’s performance of “Bill Gates” during his show in Baltimore, I got excited. Apple has started production of a thinner, more powerful version of its popular iPad tablet computers, according to the Wall Street Journal. The second-generation iPad will have more memory and a front-facing camera for capabilities such as a Face Time video-conferencing feature on Apple iPhone 4. Cupertino, California-based Apple said that it sold nearly 15 million iPads in the eight months after the tablet computers were introduced in April of last year. I’m sure my father will be ALL over it.
Seems like every so often in an abusive relationship, the two people involved leave, but just feel the need to come back and do it again eventually. Same thing with Rihanna and Eminem apparently. They’ve come together again to further the story of abusively love over a new gentler beat with the same serious tone and with Rihanna in the forefront this time. There’s no doubt with this team up a second time around, they’ll do their best the beat the living crap out of this collab, and physically molest the pop charts with its success. Lloyd Banks new album “The Hunger For More 2” has become much more than simply highly anticipated, and with the track-list just being released, one can see why. From features by Tony Yayo, Styles P, Pusha T, Juelz Santa, Raekwon, Eminem, Kanye West, Fabolous, and many more, this one is sure to become a classic, quickly.
If you happen to follow me on twitter, you know I just copped an Xbox 360, (Its only significant, because I haven’t play videogames in 4 years, and all my boys think its funny to try and destroy my free time.) But right now I’m trying to figure out which games to get a hold of, and which ones can wait, and when I saw the 4-minute-long trailer for “Force Unleashed 2” I knew I had to get it. I know this footage is a bit dated, but it’s still quite impressive… check the method below.
