Snoop Discusses The Delay of Dr. Dre’s ‘Detox’ Album.

Snoop D-O-double-jizzle met up with Britain’s best radio host, Tim Westwood recently for an interview.  During the course of the show Snoop discussed the newest delay behind Dre’s Detox album that was set to drop when I was still in high school.  Detox keeps getting pushed back further and further, but Snoop gave some valuable insight as to why.  Check the method below.

Ikea Science Fiction.

I recently helped my assistant move into a new place in the city, and half the time, all I could think about was NOT wanting to set up some bookshelf from Ikea with its notoriously overly complicated directions.  After a while of thinking to myself, I wondered what are the most complex set of instructions one could find from Ikea…

Real Steel.

Everyone remembers the Rock-Em-Sock-Em robots of the 80′s/90′s, and thats exactly what came to mind when I saw the trailer for the new Hugh Jackman movie Real Steel.  Check the synopsis below, and simply click the pic to see the trailer.

A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, Real Steel stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Nicki Minaj Goes Back To School.

Nicki Minaj became principal for a day when she visited Chicago’s Collins Academy on Thursday. The school won the ‘Get MotivatED Challenge,’ a six-week competition to improve daily attendance rates at schools nationwide, scoring a visit from the hip-hop star.

Throughout the day, Nicki, who graduated from LaGuardia High School in New York City, stressed the importance of education. “I am a young, female mogul before I am an artist,” she said. “As a business woman there isn’t a single day where I don’t use my education or acquire new knowledge to ensure my success.”
She continued, “Regardless of where you are today, with education you can take yourself where you want to be. That’s why I am working with the Get Schooled Foundation. They are finding innovative and exciting ways to bring that message to schools like the Collins Academy.”

In an all-school assembly, the rapper presented three exemplary students — Amanda Chaney, Rachael Pillot and Japone Johnson — with $10,000 college scholarships, courtesy of Comcast. The singer also took over a freshman English class and helped teach a lesson.

According to Get Schooled, if students have more than 10 absences in a year, their likelihood of graduating on time drops significantly. On the other hand, students who are more involved in school activities, are more likely to attend school regularly and graduate on time. In the case of Collins Academy, the 400-student school saw an almost 7 percent increase in attendance over the course of the last six weeks, making it the winner of the challenge.

The ‘NEW’ Black Card. Go Get One.

Money isn’t something I like to talk about all too often, and many of my affluent friends are the same way.  So I’m not going to rat anyone out, but I know a few people with Black Cards.  Almost a year ago, I heard from someone that Black Cards were no longer being distributed, and I was a bit perplexed.  But now, the world’s richest individuals can now shop and swipe in style with the new release of the JP Morgan Palladium credit card.  The card is made of palladium—a rare silvery metal that resembles platinum—and 23 karats of gold.

The JP Palladium credit card itself is worth a whopping $1,000.  The JP Morgan Palladium credit card offers benefits and features unlike any other credit cards currently on the market.  The typical JP Morgan Palladium cardholder will have an estimated 30 million dollars in savings and can only become a cardholder if he or she belongs to a private bank.  The annual fee to use this new credit card is just short of $600, a price that seems rather small considering that the credit card bears no limit.  But all in all hopefully this shiny new ‘proof of wealth’ will bring a little bit more… class, to the non CEO’s who have money.  Unlike some folks with the Black Card.

The Adventures of TinTin.

So before I start on about the trailer of the Steven Spielberg/Peter Jackson team up, I feel like I should address those readers a bit less knowledgeable on Tintin.  Tintin is a young Belgian reporter who becomes involved in dangerous cases in which he takes heroic action to save the day. Almost every adventure features Tintin hard at work in his investigative journalism, but he is seldom seen actually turning in a story without first getting caught up in some misadventure.  (He’s a steezy blend of James Bond and Sherlock Holmes.)  So when this new adaptation of the classic cartoon got a facelift, the best of the best of (mainstream) movie makers had to be called in.  The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn drops this winter, but check the first trailer below.

Nobuyoshi Araki for The Reality Show.

The man known for his S&M slant turned his lens to Japan’s bleeding edge to shoot the second issue of limited-edition Tokyo-based style magazine The Reality Show. Director Kensui Arao filmed the behind-the-scenes action as Nobuyoshi Araki captured tastemakers including model-actress Kiko Mizuhara, model Jessica Michibata and concept band The Plasticzooms, who created the video’s original soundtrack.

Kreayshawn – Gucci Gucci.

Kreayshawn

Its funny how the true the term “6 Degrees of Separation” can actually be.  I’ve rocked some of the same venues as Kreayshawn, and my brother Reginald Sylvester even illustrated the poster used for one of her overseas singles.  So I was a bit amused when a friend of mine from Miami told me about a music video he saw on twitter from “some girl around where [you] stay at”, and it turned out to be the one and only Kreayshawn.  Check out her video for “Gucci Gucci”.

And for those of you unfamiliar with Kreayshawn, check out some of what she’s got to say for herself.

Let me say as much as I can in this time I am not distracted. I am moved by creating, documenting, flourishing in society. I’m coming right from Northern California. Young East Oakland baby to be correct. I am a Director, Cinematographer, Editor, DJ, Pixel Artist, Rapper, Swag assassin, Under-cat. I am just here working for you. Let’s see what it look like in my world. I live in Los Angeles, CA. Self employed baby doll looking for consistent work with the love to travel.

Mass Suicide… Or Delicious Treat?

At first glance it looks like they’re putting real guns in their mouths, but fear not they are eating edible ice guns. They all have different kinds of flavors–cola, cherry, licorice and black currant. They are an addition to the first 50 tinted ice guns that Florian Jenett and Valentin Beinroth made and placed in downtown Frankfurt a few years ago.  These edible eatables where exhibited at an art show called “Freeze Revisited”, and their existence certainly shocked a lot of people.

Live Footage of Wiz Khalifa in London.

Its no mystery that Hip Hop has spread all over the globe, but it seems that all caliber of musicians have been flocking to the UK for some of their biggest performances.  Wiz Khalifa has now joined the ranks of professionals to blow up the stage in London, England.  Check some live footage of his performance below.  (If this video ceases to work, PLEASE comment and let me know so I can update it.  YouTube has been somewhat flaky lately.)

The ‘Bottle’ Movie.

“Bottle”, is a funky little stop-motion animation by Kirsten Lepore.  Its not often I happen to run into a short film this intriguing,  So check the method below, Kirsten has crafted something truly magical here, a story with a heart and a soul.

The Martell Liquor Trunk.

The House of Martell has launched The Martell Trunk made in collaboration with Pinel & Pinel, the renowned French luxury malletier.  This journey of the senses takes place against the gently lit backdrop of the leatherlined compartments and drawers, offering the Martell Collection such as Cordon Bleu, XO, or L’Or de Jean Martell.  Furthermore, Martell has endowed this trunk with twenty-eight montres that contain the most unique and exclusive blends.  In the company of crystal glasses and decanters, rare scented candles and a cigar humidor, the trunk holds all of the noblest companions to the tasting of cognac.  Last but not least, the trunk contains a small blue leather-bound booklet – The Cellar Master’s Notebook – which contains all the handwritten tasting notes of Martell’s Cellar Master, Benoît Fil.  As an ‘avid alcohol connoisseur’, this might just be something to save up for.

The Evolution Of The Geek.

I’ve been called many different things in my day, and the two I get the most are ‘Geek’ and/or ‘Nerd’ (which are not necessarily untrue assessments of my personality when I’m not at work).  But as curious as I am, I decided to take a look into the term Geek while I was on break during a studio session.  My findings were quite interesting.  Check the method.

LeBron James Balls Hard.

I’ve always said to the people around me, to my staff, and to my younger cousins growing up that there’s always someone above you, and always someone below you.  Simply put, no matter how good you are, there will always be someone better.  And that’s a lesson that King James is teaching people with the leak of his Las Vegas receipt.  Supposedly LeBron James spend a few cents over $171,937.00 at a Las Vegas lounge recently.  Almost $13,000 in taxes added to his bill helped comprise the whopping total (that could send a person to a 4 year university).  And no matter how much you ball out in the clubs, there are not too many people who can rack up a bill like that and not think twice about it.

I only have one question… Who the HELL’s idea was it to spend $108 on Bud Light?

The ‘Look At Me Now’ Karmin Cover.

I’m an avid ‘Tosh.0′ fan, and I love some of the segments he posts up like “Asians doing Christopher Walkin impressions” or the subsequent “White girls doing Bill Cosby impressions”, but recently I’ve seen a rash of “White girls doing covers of Look At Me Now”.  For whatever odd reason, girls all over the place have taken to trying to spit either the Busta Rhymes’ verse, or the entire song, but one girl in particular has nailed it.  During a studio session I was prompted to look up a video of “Karmin” performing the track originally by Chris Brown, Busta Buss, and Lil Tunchi (Lil Wayne), and I was quite impressed, especially by the adaptation of the chorus.  Check the method below.

Cassidy Arrested and Suspected of Murder.

The Philadelphia Police warrant squad called the Hackensack Police Department on Saturday morning to tell officers there was an open warrant for Hackensack resident Barry Reese, also known as Cassidy, Hackensack police Lt. Timothy Lloyd said.  The warrant was for violating probation, but Reese is also a suspect in a murder and two attempted murders in Philadelphia, Lloyd said.  Philadelphia police knew from a prior investigation that the rapper lived in Hackensack, Lloyd said.  Philadelphia police told their Hackensack counterparts “to consider this person armed and dangerous,” and this was a “high-risk warrant,” Lloyd said.  Officers from the Hackensack Police Emergency Response Team and the police department’s juvenile bureau watched Reese’s home Saturday on Reilly Court, Lloyd said.

Reese left his house about 1:30 p.m. and was followed by police to a local convenience store, Lloyd said.  An undercover ERT officer went in the store and positively identified Reese, he said.  When Reese came out of the store, “the ERT units moved in and conducted a felony motor vehicle stop,” Lloyd said.  Reese “was very surprised,” Lloyd said. The officers who arrested the rapper “did an outstanding job,” he said. “Without the proper teamwork going on, this could have spiraled out of control quickly.”  No one was injured in the arrest, Lloyd said.  Reese, 28, will be brought to the Bergen County Jail Annex to await extradition to Philadelphia, Lloyd said.

X-Men First Class. New Trailer & Character Profiles.

Tons of people have been looking forward to the “second coming” of the X-Men franchise.  An all new cast, a new point in time, and no Hugh Jackman are all things the series was in need of after the 4th movie.  So needless to say folks flocked to their screens once the first trailer was released on the web, and seemed to be even more anxious for a second glimpse.  The second trailer was released a while ago, (I was just unaware of it because while sifting through hundreds of links, I only watch the first few seconds of a video, and these two trailers happen to begin pretty much exactly the same way.)  But I finally managed to put my A.D.D. on the back burner, and find the official second trailer for X-Men: First Class.  Check the method.

The studio has even gone a bit further than simple theatrical trailers, and have fashioned a few character previews for some of the movies mutant stars.  The short and intense character profiles include some lesser-known X-Men including Havok, Banshee, Mystique and Beast. The full movie will release on June 3, 2011.

Pharell: Creative Director Of KarmaloopTV.

Billboard reports that rapper-producer Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D. and The Neptunes fame will serve as creative director for the Karmaloop TV, which is the network scheduled to launch later this year. Karmaloop will feature original productions along with movies that have shaped the 18-to-34-year-olds who grew up with the Internet. It’s essentially programming for the digital, plugged in generation.

Old School Gems.

NO THIS IS NOT A PICTURE OF ME.

It seems like ever since I put up the post about odd photos from the past (Parts 1 and 2), I’ve been getting recommendations about places to procure vintage photos of all different types.  I’m NOT trying to say that any suggestions from the fans were disregarded.  But one collection in particular, consisting of 16 retro photos caught my eye in a unique way.  Each of them has such an individual and intriguing element about them that I just can’t put my finger on.  Check the method.

A Whooty?

Normally when it comes to comedy, I make a distinction between funny and hilarious, but last night while doing some studio work I was exposed to a video that’s downright comically out of control.  The song “Whooty” refers to a woman with a slim waist, and a large rear end, specifically of Caucasian ethnicity.  (Or a white girl with a ‘ass’).  But the entire manner in which the video is filmed, down to the clothing the girls are wearing is just very funny to me. And the killer was that one of the group members of ‘Edubb’ is Lance Crouther (Pootie Tang) which was what really put me on my back laughing.

Joel Ortiz’s Battle Cry.

Slaughterhouse has been on my radar for quite some time, and since they joined Shady Records along with Yelawolf, I’ve for sure taken notice of all the cogs that make the Slaughterhouse machine move.  Crooked I, Joe Buddens (should out to Jersey, Royce Da 5 9, and Joel Ortiz are stupid-talented artists as a group, and still lethal on their own.  Check out Joel Ortiz’s “Battle Cry” acapella performance.  Check the method below.
