Tokyo 24 On 99.7.

Click the pic to vote, and hear 'Taste Of Love' below.

Tokyo 24 has been one of my favorite groups to work with for quite some time now.  Their unique style, a-typical beats, and non generic lyrics have always kept my interested as a listener.  Recently, their music found its way right up to the top of the ‘Bay Area Sound Check’ contest held by 99.7 Now in the Bay.  As if the musical prowess of Tokyo 24 wasn’t enough to get my vote, NhT’s own A.Mo is also featured on the track.  ‘Taste Of Love’ is fresh off the EP “Aeonian Complex” released in the last quarter of 2011.  You can hear the track above, and click the pic to cast your vote for Tokyo 24.

Tokyo 24 At Yoshi’s SF.

Tokyo 24 has been gracing stages all over the Bay with their presence for years now, but recently I was presented with the opportunity to join them on one their biggest shows to date.  Tuesday, October 18th marks the date when yours truly, Miles Brandon, RGLND, and Tokyo 24 will take over Yoshi’s on 1330 Fillmore St. in San Francisco for an epic display of good people, great music, and a never before seen laser light show.  Make sure come through and see the show.  It’ll be one to remember.

Jhene Aiko @ 330 Ritch.

Above Ground Productions, has been shining a light on some of the hottest emerging talent around bringing out Theophilius London, Casey Veggies, the homecoming show for Bay Area based Kreayshawn and now, they are bringing out Los Angeles based singer Jhene Aiko.  Aiko, has been making a name for herself for years working with then, mega boy group B2K with the label TUG, and releasing her debut single “No L.O.V.E.”  However, Aiko finally received notoriety with the release of her March release, Sailing Soul(s). The project shined a light on Aiko as a writer, and vocalist, singing songs that everyone could relate to at one more or another regardless of gender.

With that being said, Above Ground is bringing Aiko to San Francisco for her first show in the Bay Area, with an intimate 18+ show at 330 Ritch.   Aiko will be backed by a live band, and the opening acts for the show include local YouTube sensation Erin Paula, Rapper/Producer Iamsu!, and Toyoko 24.  The in-house DJ for the night will be DJ King Most. Pre-sale tickets are available now for $17.00 and can be purchased online http://jheneaiko-estw.eventbrite.com/.  Hope to see you there.

Tokyo 24 – Aeonian Complex EP.

The group Tokyo 24 has been compared to the likes of Theophilus London, N.E.R.D., and Kanye West, all without having released either an EP, or LP.  But the hype has been building when the group announced their first EP project Aeonian Complex.  (I’ve even posted a few of the preliminary ads on the blog last week) And finally the finished product is out on the web for fans and new finders alike to listen to and enjoy.  Click the pic to hear ‘Aeonian Complex’.

With all the incredible music that’s been dropping all this summer, it’s no surprise that Tokyo 24 would be next up to release an incredible collection.  The duo of Duckworth & BeatStreets will be releasing the “Aeonian Complex” EP on August 11th, click the pic to see more about the project.

Duckworth – Yellow Subterrain.

Duckworth of Tokoy 24 has been killing the scene for quite some time, and is proving his talent with a constant barge of lyrical goodness entitled “A Swell Arrival”.  The fourth installment of the collection, named “Yellow Subterrain” is available for download by clicking the picture.  Team Backpack also recently had another cypher featuring Duckworth.  The video is below, but the swag is everywhere.

Showtime @ The Ritch.

Duckworth of Tokyo 24

330 Ritch has been host to many different talented acts from all around the world.  But on the 23rd of March 2011, The Above Ground entertainment company put together a perfect storm of music, musicians, and madness that made the night magic.  Yours truly, DJ Storm, Tokyo 24, C -Plus, DJ King Most, 87 Stickup Kids, Kreayshawn, Alexander Spits, and Theophilus London all played a part in tearing the house to the ground.  Check the Above Ground footage below.

Team Backpack Freestyle – ft. So Proper, Esque Coast, & Duckworth

One of the best opportunities an emcee has to create a memorable moment is during a cypher.  Its a raw demonstration of pure creative talent in front of an audience of your peers, that can make, break, or shape the way your perceived as an artist.  Team Backpack seems to recognize the importance of this format of rap, and puts out cyphers on the weekly, (much like the BET Awards cyphers) featuring different emcees of the highest caliber.  Their most recent however features a good friend of mine cuttin in last.  Check the method below to see Tokyo 24′s Duckworth tearin up the mic.

And don’t forget to vote for Duckworth at teamback.net

Thank You To My Supporters.

I know not all my fans are as eager to show their love for my work as the chick who emailed me this picture, but I still want to take the time to thank everyone who’s made the success of this blog possible so far.  I’ve never felt like, on the journey that is my career, that I’ve gotten to where I am alone, and this blog is a reflection of that.  I wanna give a huge thank you to all the promotional companies that shoot me info about their events, especially my people at Above Ground, Set4Life, F.A.2.E., and Pete’s Tavern.  I have to shout all the lovely models like Brit Bliss, Csilla Ray, Tammy Torres, and Jenna Luv who’s pictures bring hundreds of guys to the blog,  And I can’t forget artists like Rob Scott, C.I. Bang, Cassfly, G.O.V., and Tokyo 24 who use this blog as an avenue to put out their newest tracks, or the photographers and illustrators like Lauren Johnson, Brittany Jeffers, Michael Tudor, or Rodney Young who’s work always becomes the centerpiece whenever its up.  All of the random stories and subjects that go up are found be either myself or my assistant, and are painstakingly filtered through every single day.  (literally).  I’m glad all the work is paying off, so my final thank you has to go to all the viewers, the hundreds of subscribers, and all the people who put up with my posting stories on their Facebook pages all day long.  Thanks so much.

More to come…

The BET Cypher w/ Yelawolf

I didn’t get a chance to check the BET awards the other day, but the one thing I knew I would hear about the next day was “The Cypher”.  (The black & white filmed, circle of emcees with a simple beat in the back where artists can just spit their lyrics in the rawest form.)  Several emcee’s were featured in The Cypher Part 1 this year, but the most impressive to me was Yelawolf, the white emcee from Alabama, check the method below.

And I KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that some people are thinking that this is just a plug for this Tuesday, but it’s not.  I really do enjoy Yela’s flow.  And in case you didn’t know what I meant by “Tuesday”, Yelawolf, Tokyo 24, Stickup Kidz, Jay Ant, J Espinosa, and yours truley DJ Storm will be tearing up 330 Ritch in downtown San Francisco thanks to Above Ground, Infinite, and Beats: By Dre.  Make sure that if your in the Bay, your in the building come October 19th.  (Shameless promotion out the face.)

Yelawolf At 330 Ritch

The video above is of rapper Yelawolf tearing down the stage at a fools gold party in New York.  He will be in SF for the Wake and Bake show October 19th.  After the Wake and Bake concert however, if your located in the Bay Area, head on over to 330 Ritch, Yelawolf will be in the building, along with myself, Tokyo 24, Stickup Kidz, J. Espinosa, and Jay Anthony.  The party is being put together by the one and only ‘Above Ground’, and there will be giveaways from Infinite SF, and the party is sponsored by “Beats: By Dr. Dre”.  It’s going to be a HUGE event, dress to impress, doors open at 10, and its 18+ in the spot, so anyone can come through.  See you there.

On July 3rd, Tokyo 24 set up at the ‘Medicine Agency Gallery’ in downtown San Francisco, and tore it all down.  Along with Ironclad and Duckworth, the performance hailed the return of Philly P to the stage during a special performance of “Check My Denim”, and concluded with a double encore.  Pro photographer Brittany Jeffers was on the scene to snap some exclusive pics of Tokyo 24, and opening acts “Signs” and “Wanda & Wonder”.  It was an event that was not to have been missed, but if you did, just click here, or on any of the pictures to see the entire set and do it quickly.  These pictures will only be available until July 26th.

Not For Me.

Recently Duckworth of  Tokyo 24 recorded the song “Not For Me 1.4.3″, and is now releasing a short video reflecting the theme of track.  The soft melodic sounds of “Not For Me” accompanied by an anime scene in which a girl is attempting to give her “love” to a boy, which is a metaphor for the message of the song.  To get some other news about Duckworth and Tokyo 24, click the pic to check out the new ‘Tour with Tokyo’ blog.

Party in South Central.

As many of you may have noticed, my posts have pretty much stopped over the last few days.  I’ve been posted in the great city of Los Angeles, with Duckworth of Tokyo 24 in South Central, enjoying the weather and getting work done.  When I leave, all the pictures from the trip will be available shortly after.
