Recently, Kia released a string of DC Super Hero inspired vehicles that, no matter how hard any tuner tried, they wouldn’t be able to come close to.  This line up of customized cars embellish the characters they represent to a T.  From Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman, Kia has really turned up the heat with these collector vehicles.

Two of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer just got brand new trailers (on the same day).  With shots of Kirk apologizing to his entire crew for pretty much getting them on the endangered species list, some interesting new views of Krypton, Pike giving Kirk some fatherly advice, and Kal El beating the crap out of Zod, both trailers are a must watch.  Check them out.

The Brand New Man Of Steel Trailer Is Here.

o-MAN-OF-STEEL-POSTER-570

“Man Of Steel” is one of Warner Brothers’ biggest 2013 releases, so it goes to reason that a new trailer for the film will come attached to prints of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.” (Not that you need to enter Middle-earth to see the latest teaser.)  Directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan, “Man of Steel” recalls the oft-recounted origin story for Superman. As the first teasers hinted at, however, this isn’t necessarily your pa’s Man of Steel: Snyder’s film appears to have the earthy look of a Terrence Malick feature mixed with the gravitas of Nolan’s well-regarded Batman trilogy.

Super Hero Manatees.

Joel Micah Harris has gone and created some amazing pieces of fan art, which portray superheroes as manatees. It’s a little bizarre and utterly random, but you can’t deny that his pictures aren’t amazingly wonderful (not to mention hilarious).

Manatees get a lot of grief for being not overly intelligent, but that doesn’t mean they don’t look great when dressed up as Hawkeye or Wonder Woman.  Below are seven amazing pieces of fan art of manatee superheroes, though there are many more that can be found at Joel’s deviantart. You can also go onto Joel’s Red Bubble account if you’d like to own prints, T-shirts, or stickers of his artwork.

Super Heroes and Their Secret Identities

To be a superhero, you must usually have a secret identity, a “normal” personality with which you can blend in with the masses. The consequences of an enemy finding out their real-life identity could be most dire, oftentimes leading to the destruction of the hero’s alter-ego and/or the villain using a hero’s loved one(s) as bait. In some cases a Super-Hero chooses to keep their identity secret to avoid any legal ramifications (ex. Lawsuits) or public scrutiny that would ruin their life. Check out some of these illustrations.

Batman-Inspired Kia Optima Concept

Kia Motors America has unveiled a Batmobile-themed Optima SX, the first in what is planned to be a long line of vehicles designed in partnership with DC Comics. The Batmobile was designed by superstar comic book artist Jim Lee in partnership with Rides magazine. The vehicle is now on display at NYC’s Time Warner Center. The customized Optima SX is the first of eight Justice League-themed vehicles, with cars inspired by Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Cyborg expected to follow in the next few months. All of these models are part of the campaign We Can Be Heroes, which aims to fight hunger in the Horn of Africa.

Liam Brazier’s Superhero Collection.

Earlier this year, the angular and colorful illustrations of Star Wars characters by UK-based illustrator and animator Liam Brazier drew everyone’s attention. In addition to the Start Wars characters that in their clunkiness lend themselves to geometric treatments, Brazier has also attacked several popular super heroes with his style of illustration.  What makes Brazier’s work even more interesting is that the illustrations are not created in Illustrator using vectors. Instead, he draws each shape with Photoshop’s polygonal selection tool and then fills them in with color.  Further than that, the way he named his super hero collection was incredibly unique.  Check the method below.

The NEW D.C. Comics Heroes.

This past summer, mega-publisher DC Comics is revamping its entire superhero empire. Every one of its 52 titles will be relaunched with an all-new issue number one, complete with new story lines, new histories, and new costumes. Yup, some of the world’s most legendary crime fighters—and their arch enemies—are getting a makeover. “The goal was to modernize the mythology, to contemporize the look and feel of the characters,” says DC copublisher Jim Lee. “It’s something done continually by every major comics publisher, but it has never been done on such an all-encompassing scale.” The first series to get its makeover will be Justice League (drawn by Lee) and its iconic lineup: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Cyborg (well, mostly iconic lineup). Here’s a peek at three heroes in their new duds.

S

Superman

Trunks: The most noticeable costume change is on the Man of Steel, who has lost his red trunks (ahem, they weren’t underwear). “He’ll be the most controversial,” Lee predicts.

Articulation: Superman and his colleagues have shed their spandex for a more armorlike, sculpted look.

Red Belt: Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman used to sport golden belts—Supes now has a red belt with a logo-shaped buckle. “We looked at all the characters together. We went with red because it looked better in a lineup.”

S

The Flash

Wings: The Scarlet Speedster’s signature head-wings are now sharper and flare back to lessen drag. At high speed they function as rudders.

Velocity: Flash’s superspeed is depicted by electricity flares that spark off his body.

Change of clothes: Former Flash would stop and change into a spare costume he kept inside his ring. Now segments of the garb pop out of the ring and snap into place as he moves.

Trim: When Flash runs, his piping glows. The faster he goes, the hotter and whiter it gets.

s

Aquaman

Habitat: This King of the Seven Seas is more rugged than his predecessor. He’s unkempt, with a wilder hairstyle and some tough-guy stubble. “He does shave underwater, after all,” Lee says.

Armor: Aquaman has shed his traditional flat-orange fish scales in favor of a golden chain-mail motif and a sleeker trident.

Collar: The Nehru collars that Aquaman, Superman, and the Green Lantern now wear were inspired by modern-day dress uniforms of the Marines and the Navy.

Batman & Superman… Not Goin’ Down.

Many, many people have been expecting some sort of Batman/Superman team up, much like the recently announced Avengers movie.  But, according the Christopher Nolan, that’s not necessarily going to be the case.

There was a lot of excitement a few months back when Nolan’s name was mentioned as the “godfather” of a Superman reboot at Warner Bros., and speaking on the decision for the first time, Nolan told Boucher that his involvement with the Superman franchise came about from them having reached an impasse on what to do with their third Batman film and David Goyer having an idea of what could be done with the Man of Steel:

“He basically told me, ‘I have this thought about how you would approach Superman. I immediately got it, loved it and thought: That is a way of approaching the story I’ve never seen before that makes it incredibly exciting. I wanted to get Emma and I involved in shepherding the project right away and getting it to the studio and getting it going in an exciting way.

As mentioned previously, Nolan would act as a producer for another director, which has yet to be determined as they develop the script. From there, Nolan’s involvement may be similar to Peter Jackson’s on District 9 as he moves onto the third Batman film. He didn’t have a lot more to say about the Superman reboot except that he did have an appreciation for what Singer tried to do in connecting his film to those of Richard Donner:

“A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that’s what I know how to do.”

It’s suggested that like his two Batman movies, the Superman story will take place in a world where Superman is the only superhero, so one probably can’t expect this Superman to meet Christian Bale’s Batman or either character to be involved with a future Justice League movie.

“Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other,” Nolan told them.

Eventually, the Nolans and Goyer got over the earlier impasse with a second Batman sequel, and things are certainly moving forward on that third movie. Nolan wouldn’t confirm any of the dozens of internet rumors about who might play the villain but he did say:

“Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story, and in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story. We have a great ensemble, that’s one of the attractions of doing another film, since we’ve been having a great time for years.”

Frame from "I Am Legend"

There have even been massive hints, like the few frames in ‘I Am Legend’ in which a poster is displayed with the classic mashup logo.  But according to the big guns, it won’t be so.  (Sorry Reg)
