After releasing a remixed version of “How Many Drinks,” the power duo of Miguel and Kendrick Lamar return with the visual accompaniment to the song. The music video preserves a sense of classic R&B, with Miguel truly channeling his inner all-around showman – performing nifty leg twists while boasting an expansive vocal range. Kendrick and Miguel seem to have a great deal of fun in the video, which serves as a suitably mellow parallel to an already silky track.

Drake shared “Started From The Bottom,” the first single from his as-yet-untitled new album, and from the sound of things, it’ll be a departure from the luxuriant moroseness of Take Care. “Started From The Bottom” is a hard, simple rap song with a nagging piano loop and some serious 808 programming.

Wiz Khalifa’s SBTV Freestyle.

Wiz Khalifa was in London recording some new tunes & he gave SBTV a call to come chill with him in studio.  When the crew arrived, they were treated to some bars from the weed-smoking Wiz.

Emilio Rojas – Showoff (Radio Freestyle).

Radio freestyles are a dime a dozen, and it takes something quite substantial to make one stand out now a days. But the emcee Emilio Rojas spoke some memorable lines in a way that I haven’t seen in quite some time. Check the method below.

Hip Hop Portraits By Mark563.

Illustrated portfolios always seem to have some sort of mysticism about them that photo’s don’t always capture.  There’s just something special about someone taking their time to make sure every stroke of the pencil was correct, that every shade was correct, and every subtle nuance of a figure represented them correctly.  The illustrator known as “Mark563″ has done all this and then some.  Using some of the strongest names in Hip Hop as his subjects, he proves that both his illustration skills, and his knowledge of the legends of the genre are both impeccable.

Baracka Flacka Flame.

So it’s been a long day, and I’ve been through quite a bit in the last 24 hours, but my boy Jeff just helped put a smile back on my face.  He came in from New York, to my place to chill, and shared the beauty of “Baracka Flacka Flame”.  I haven’t laughed this hard in days, and everyone else at the house is in stitches.  The video features a very real looking “Baracka” parading around to one of the more popular Wacka Flacka Flame songs, with original lyrics looking far more fearsome than he already does to white people in the south.  Rumor has it, the video already made it to CNN.  Check the method below, and tell me you didn’t at least once.

Shakur Sozahdah

The amazing Shakur Sozahdah is of East African descent, and just like all the other girls on this Blog, the typical model.  The alluring Shakur boasts a talent for music that many of her counterparts in the video vixen industry may not have.  The sound of the raptress is an eclectic mixture of musical genres. Shakur describes her sound as urban, euro, pop. “My sound is a good balance of hip-hop, pop, and London swag and it’s that diversity that makes it good ear candy. Every time I step into the studio, I’m going for music that has a feel good vibe with global appeal. We have seven continents in this world, so why limit yourself to just one. There are so many people out there I can reach with music, so I definitely do not want to stipulate my growth. International is where it’s at! I don’t think I sound like any female artist that’s out there now,” she explains. “It’s a new sound…it’s a new lane. I try to show my unique twist on what I do and I exemplify it in my music.” When asked what she hopes to accomplish Shakur’s goals are clear. “I want to flourish in what I do, learn from others, and create an empire. So many people fall off after a hit or two, but I want to create something substantial and use whatever status or fame I get to do something positive. I want to help people in any way I can and make a difference…whether it’s minute and miniscule, or something huge. I just want to keep the momentum going and never limit myself.”

Kanye West x The Cleveland Show.

Although I may not be a love of all things Seth McFarlen as some of my friends are, I love ‘Family Guy’.  When the Cleveland spin off came around, I was a bit skeptical, until the first episode Kanye West showed up in.  So when Kanye appeared for the second time the other night, I had to post it.  Check his “performance” below.

‘Cocktails & Condoms’ New Drop Date

Artwork: Rodney Young. Graphic Design: Reginald Sylvester

So many people have approached me recently to talk about the changed release date of  ‘Cocktails & Condoms’.  The project was to be completed on July 26th, and released on August 1st, but has now been pushed to August 14th.  The primary reason for the push is my ever lasting obsession with perfection.  This mix CD is the biggest solo production I’ve ever pushed.  I even went so far as to taking the time to travel to multiple cities around the country in order to become better familiarized with the style of music in those areas so I don’t miss out on the best new music being played around the country.  During the final steps of creation, I had to undergo a minor surgery to have my wisdom teeth removed.  Anyone who’s had the procedure knows how little you can do the first few days afterwards, and how insane it would be to do something like… travel up and down the east coast doing shows, drinking, clubbing, and working on a major release, all while partially twacked out on pain medication and suffering from sleep deprivation.  But that was the path I chose to take after the surgery, and anyone keeping up with me on twitter heard how much not taking the time to rest up took its toll on me mentally as well as physically.   So I’m back in the bay area now, and totally devoted to completing and re-editing the CD to make sure it is 110% of everything I set out for it to be.  I’ve even been fortunate enough to be blessed with some new artwork for ‘Cocktails & Condoms’ by one of my favorite illustrators, Rodney Young (above), and will also have some time to feature some new music from Rob Scott, and MSTRKRFT on the CD as well.  But from here on out, there will no more mistakes, and no more excuses, and if your fortunate enough to be in the bay area on Friday the 13th, the release party will be held at Club Sutra in San Francisco.  For everyone else, the morning of Saturday August 14th will hopefully yield one of the most unique musical experiences I’ve ever been able to provide to the public, so look out for it.
