RGLND – Vision.

I’ve been fortunate enough to work some incredibly talented artists over the course of my career, weather they’ve been developing, or known world wide.  It’s very rewarding to be able to see someone you’ve worked with release a dope project, and Mr. Ragland is a perfect example.  One of my closest friends produced a mixtape cover for Ragland’s project “Supreme Sketch” a while back, and left the CD at my house.  When I listened to it, I had no idea who the artist was, and as fate would have it, a few weeks later we were recording together.  Since then I’ve grown to be a huge fan of RGLND’s work, especially the track ‘Vision’.  Check the official video below.

T-Pain ft. Joey Galaxy – Booty Work (Official Video).

T-Pain never ceases to amaze me when it comes to his ability to release bangers.  Be they club hits or songs that just stay on repeat in my iPhone, so much of his catalog are just tracks that I vibe with.  So when the track ‘Booty Work’ dropped, I wasn’t exactly thrilled by incredibly innovative subject matter, but I was happy with the track.  The video however is even better.  The video is all in one take, (the camera doesn’t cut at all) and there are some dope camera tricks sprinkled throughout.  Check the method below.

I’m On One Docu-Video.

I’m well aware that I posted up some footage by Derick G recently documenting behind the scenes of a music video, but going through his collection of work has led me to another gem.  The documentary style footage taken of the “I’m On One” video takes an interesting peek behind the curtain of Miami life, the concept behind the music video, and the people who helped put it all together.  Check the method below.

Frank Ocean – Novacaine (Official Video).

Everyone has been hearing the hype about one of Hip Hop’s newest contenders Frank Ocean.  When his track Novocaine hit the radio waves, it was an instant hit, and now that the video has dropped today, the songs success, along with Frank’s seems to have no limits.

Pusha T – Alone In Vegas (Official Video).

Pusha T’s previous two Fear of God videos — “Open Your Eyes” and “Blow” — were heavy on the metaphorical imagery that aimed to provide more insight into the rapper’s wordplay and overall lyrically content. But for “Alone in Vegas,” the direction team of Orson Whales, Shahan Jafri and Alex Germanotta, has turned the track into the soundtrack for a mini-film. It depicts Pusha as a lone crime boss, who not only calls all of the shots but carries them out, too. The vibe is somewhat reminiscent of “Nightmares,” the closing track on Clipse’s Hell Hath No Fury that featured Pusha and Malice at their most paranoid, dark, and isolated.  Pusha’s Fear of God 2: Let Us Pray drops June 21.

Bow Wow – It’s Goin Down (Official Video)

Since his appearance on Entourage, Bow Wow has really (in the eyes of my boys) stepped out of the stigma of being “lil”, and his music reflects the same.  Since his partnership with YMCMB, he’s put out quite a few freestyles, and tracks that prove he’s no longer to be taken lightly, and ‘It’s Goin Down’ is no exception.  The video is shot very well, with a few little subtle tricks I was impressed by (like Bow Wow driving past a group of girls, and their names popping up above their heads).  But check the method out for yourself below.

Nicki Minaj – Did It On Em’ (Official Video).

So a while back I put up a post about the ‘I Am Still Music‘ tour featuring Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Travis Barker, Young Money, and of course the infamous Nicki Minaj.  But little did we who attended know, DJ Scoob Doo was filming scenes for Minaj’s single “Did It On Em”.  The (now official) video features scenes from many of the different tour locations, including Oakland.  Check the method below.

‘Welcome To My Hood’ – Official Remix Video.

During the Lil Wayne ‘I Am Still Music’ concert I attended on Easter, Weezy stopped the show and told the crowd to throw their hands up if they were raised in the hood, and I had to keep it real, be honest, and keep quiet… until my assistant started screaming, (at which point I had to break my silence tell her to shut up, because she wasn’t raised in the hood either).  But regardless of my upbringing, I still thoroughly enjoy DJ Khaled’s song ‘Welcome To My Hood”, and hearing his fully loaded remix is dope, but the video is even doper, check the method below.

Kelly Rowland ft. Lil Wayne – Motivation.

Among my close friends, I’m very well known for not necessarily being a fan of slower songs.  (NOTE: What I play in the clubs doesn’t reflect what I listen to in my spare time.  So even tho I say I’m not a fan of slower R&B tracks, doesn’t reflect what I play when I’m at work.)  But all that being said, when I heard “Motivation” for the first time, it reminded me of a specific person, and from then on was a positive association thing.  So when I saw how creative, simple, and effective the video for the Kelly Rowloand’s song featuring Lil Wayne, I was even more entranced.  Check the method below.

Throwback Video: Busta Rhymes – Break Yo Neck.

Click the pic to watch the video.

When it comes to classic hip hop videos, Busta Rhyme’s “Break Yo Neck” stands out as one of my all time favorites. From the spontaneous dancing red men, Busta humping a steam-roller cruising down the street, to the uber-random headbutt-battle in the middle of the video, “Break Yo Neck” was one of the greatest of its time.  The video featuring appearances from Spliff Starr, Cee Lo Green, Diddy, Timbaland, Lil Jon, Ludacris, Dr. Dre and a small hand full of others, (unfortunately the d*cks over at SME won’t let me put the video on this page) so click the pic above to check out the 2001 video for “Break Yo Neck”.

This Is What Rock N’ Roll Looks Like.

Porcelain Black

Lil Wayne is notorious for collaborating for all sorts of different acts.  But in his newest collab with Porcelain Black is one of the sickest.  The official video dropped yesterday, and is actually quite fitting for both the song, and for Porcelain Black and for Weezy.  The intro to the video is also one of the funniest I’ve seen in a while.  Check the method below.

The Chemical Bros. – Get Yourself High.

No matter how much time my team and I spends digging up articles for this blog, all it takes is a glance a friends Facebook to see something we never would have came up with.  That being said, thanks to Torrey Skye, the video ‘Get Yourself High’ from the Chemical Brothers was brought to my attention.  The video takes after old school Kung Fu movies, with an interesting twist.  The characters have been digitally edited to say the lyrics of the song.  Check the method below.

Grafh ft. Waka Flocka Flame – Knock Em’ Down.

It’s been said more than a few times on this blog that Grafh is one of my personal favorites in the rap game.  When he puts his all into a track, there’s such an intense flow and multifaceted lyricism, that makes so much of his music hard to ignore.  Now on the other hand, after my interview with model Gianna DeNinno, I gained a new-found respect for Waka Flocka and his hustle, both inside and out of the music scene.  So when Grafh and Waka teamed up on the track ”Knock Em’ Down”, I was both surprised and intrigued.  The video for the song seems a bit outside of Grafh’s usual super-urban videos, and has him posted in the desert mountains somewhere.  But as the video progressed, I realized that the “middle of nowhere” scenes were most likely Nevada, because soon after Grafh and crew are stuntin all over Las Vegas for the remainder of the video.  Check the method below.

DJ Khaled ft. Plies, Rick Ross, T Pain, and Lil Wayne – Welcome To My Hood.

Click the pic to watch the video.

I was watching a program on the Sundance Channel titled “Brick City” which is mini series short about Newark, New Jersey, it’s mayor, and its citizens.  They discuss issues like violent crime reduction, gangs, and the people who protect the city.  During a commercial I got a text that said the “Welcome To My Hood” video dropped by DJ Khaled, Plies, Rick Ross, T Pain, and Lil Wayne, and I found it quite fitting.  Now lets keep in mind, by no means is Newark my hood, I’m South Plainfield all day.  But I’m a strong supporter of anything Jersey (besides the ‘Shore’), so I had to mention the EWR.  Below is the behind the scenes video for the shoot of “Welcome To My Hood” produced by T Pain’s team.  But to see the finished product, click the pic above for the official video.

Throwback Video: Busta Rhymes – Gimmie Some More.

I don’t specifically remember the first time I ever saw this video. I do however remember wondering if famous people really had cigars that were super huge. Since then, this video has become a classic in my book, for its insane visuals, the over-the-top fisheye lenses, and Bussa Buss doing his thing in the classic fashion that made him famous.

Some New Summer Movies For You.

New isn’t exactly the most appropriate word to describe these next films, all of which are franchises that have banked big bucks in summers past, and are making waves once again with new splashes in the box office. Weather your familiar with all the titles in each franchise or your new to some of the films, all of these titles are sure to have ads all over the place in months.

Fast Five

Now I KNOW what most people are thinking when they see this, that the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise should have stopped trying years ago. Or that if it weren’t for the 4th and most recent installment in the series, no one would care about the rag-tag team of street racing criminals. Which is all probably true, but since seeing the trailer for the newest movie in the line up, I’ve noticed that when the focus is on a heist and not on CG cars doing impossible stunts, the movies appeal increases 10 fold. I was also disappointed when I heard The Rock was a part of the film, but actually seeing him in action quelled my fears. Check the method below.

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead a reunion of returning all-stars from every chapter of the explosive franchise built on speed in Fast Five. In this installment, former cop Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) partners with ex-con Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) on the opposite side of the law. Dwayne Johnson joins returning favorites Jordana Brewster, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Matt Schulze, Tego Calderon and Don Omar for this ultimate high-stakes race. Since Brian and Mia Toretto (Brewster) broke Dom out of custody, they’ve blown across many borders to elude authorities. Now backed into a corner in Rio de Janeiro, they must pull one last job in order to gain their freedom. As they assemble their elite team of top racers, the unlikely allies know their only shot of getting out for good means confronting the corrupt businessman who wants them dead. But he’s not the only one on their tail. Hard-nosed federal agent Luke Hobbs (Johnson) never misses his target. When he is assigned to track down Dom and Brian, he and his strike team launch an all-out assault to capture them. But as his men tear through Brazil, Hobbs learns he can’t separate the good guys from the bad. Now, he must rely on his instincts to corner his prey…before someone else runs them down first.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

This fourth installment of the Pirates franchise boasts a new crew villain, (who just reminds me of Shamus from family guy), a love interest for Jack Sparrow, and a new quest without the old weight of some of the main characters of the old movies.  From what I’ve heard, the writing on this movie frees the story up to go to new places, and in new directions by “forgetting” some of the past, and simply focusing on this new adventure.  I’m anxious to see how high this movie rates on the box office lists come summer.  Bring rum.

Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds himself on an unexpected journey to the fabled Fountain of Youth when a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz) forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane).

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

Although the title kinda reminds me of a twilight spin off, I’m still very curious to see what this movie makes of the franchise.  After hearing Michael Bay give himself some harsh constructive criticism in an interview about “Revenge of the Fallen” (the sequel) I’m a bit more confident that he can handle this movie and have it be more successful than the second, and maybe even the original Transformers movie.  There are tons of rumors in circulation about why Megan Fox got cut from the movie, but I do think if it’s explained the correct way, and people can move past it, the new love interest will end up helping the movie instead of hurting it (as some people have speculated).  But in true Michael Bay fashion, he’s trying to keep it a secret so there is no synopsis for the movie, never the less, also in true Michael Bay fashion, we all know there will be about 20 million dollars worth of explosions. The Cool Kids – Big Talk (Official Video)

‘The Cool Kids’ never cease to amaze be it with lyrical swag, or ridiculous beats, check the official video for “Big Talk”.

The Eagle.

The film “The Eagle” a young Roman centurion in 140 AD, attempts to uncover the truth about the disappearance of his father’s legion—the Ninth—in the north of Britain twenty years previously. The centurion, Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum), travels with a British slave, Esca (Jamie Bell), beyond Hadrian’s Wall into Caledonia, where he must confront the tribes to recover the legion’s eagle standard and restore his father’s reputation.  Badass-ness ensues, and through a bizarre twist, Esca, the slave, becomes the master.  Click the pic to watch the trailer.

Brand New Tron Trailer 11/9/10

The new Tron: Legacy trailer was one of my very first posts on this blog, and the movie still hasn’t come out yet… disappointing.  But what I am happy to report is that the final trailer was released via the web today, and is wilder than I ever would have thought.  Olivia Wild (13 from the Fox show ‘House’) and the “younger/villainous” Jeff Bridges (from the original Tron) are displayed in a little more contextual depth than any of the previous trailers, and “The Grid” is display in some pretty ridiculous ways.  So check the method below, and PLEASE comment if the video stops working.  If YouTube shuts it down, I’m not going to know unless someone says something, and I get a chance to find a new one.  Enjoy.

Bun B ft. Drake – Put It Down (Video Preview)

N.E.R.D. – Hypnotize U (Official Video)

Gangrene – The Sickness

.

The group Gangrene (comprised of The Alchemist and Oh No) have dropped one of the dopest videos I’ve seen in quite some time. Refreshingly unique, and super raw, the video for ‘The Sickness’ is as far away from mainstream BET as one could possibly get. Oh No’s opening verse is lyrically voracious, with visuals to match, over one of the nicest beats Alchemist has dropped in a while. (Of course that’s just my opinion). The other unique aspect of the song is that there is no real chorus, just samples taken from different media. Check the method below.

Will.i.Am & Nicki Minaj – Check It Out

Its my sworn duty to report on all things new and interesting in the world of music (among other things) on this Blog, so I know many of you may criticize this post after some of my publicized comments on Nicki Minaj. But regardless of what I think, the fact remains, she’s an unmistakable force in the world of hip hop right now, and her song ‘Check It Out’ ft. Will.I.Am is just as unmistakable as she is. So when I got a glimpse at the video, I knew it was only right to put it up so you could “check it out”.

Eminem ft. Lil Wayne – No Love (Official Video)

Click the pic to watch the video

A few months back before the release of Eminem’s album “Recovery” I wrote a well received review about my opinion of the album. In the review, I noted that the song “No Love” from Em ft. Lil Wayne was not only (in my opinion) the best song on the album, but the best song Em has put his full energy into, in quite some time.  I haven’t met a person yet who disagreed with that statement, so when I saw the video for the track, I was crazy excited.  The scenes were filmed before Wayne went away, but it’s just as fresh as ever.  Click the pic to watch.
