From the New York Post to Twelv Magazine passing by Jalouse, Bloomingdale’s or Please Magazine, her work angle and portfolio is quite rich and divers. Silja Magg creates great photo shoot for both Fashion Editorial & portraits editorial. We loved her work full of authenticity though mixing real and imaginary thoughts.

MS MR – Fantasy

msmr

MS MR’s song Fantasy is a pretty catchy, stand out track. The upbeat, Florence like song is far too easy to get addicted to. The New York indie pop duo have a growing buzz surrounding them, and it’s no surprise. Fantasy video is perfect for those of you who like your videos with a dose of oddity like the gothy, grimy style and glitter vomiting cheerleaders.

Hoodie Allen – “No Interruption”

Hoodie-Allen-No-Interruption-Cover

No Interruption came out almost a year ago by the independent American hip-hop artist and rapper Hoodie Allen. He has come out with newer music since then but I always come back to this song. The chorus is pretty catchy while the video is entertaining to watch as well. Check out his method below.

The 10 most Instagrammed places of 2012

Suvarnabhumi-International-Airport

Instagram, the photo-sharing app, has released a list of the most photographed places in the world via the app in 2012, with Suvarnabhumi Airport topping the chart.According to IG, over 100,000 photos were taken via Instagram at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, over the last year, making it a surprise winner.Interestingly another Bangkok landmark, the Siam Paragon shopping mall, took second place in Instagram’s most photographed places in 2012

Overall, locations in the US were popular among Instagram users, with American landmarks occupying seven of the top ten locations, including five in Southern California. Strangely enough, landmarks that have been a traditional favorite for photographers such as the Statue of Liberty in New York, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin or London’s Big Ben did not appear on the list, though Paris’s Eiffel Tower did make an appearance in eighth place — behind Dodger Stadium and LAX.

The top ten most photographed places in the world via Instagram in 2012 were:

01.    Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) Bangkok, Thailand
02.    Siam Paragon (shopping mall) Bangkok, Thailand
03.    Disneyland Park Anaheim, California, USA
04.    Times Square New York City, New York, USA
05.    AT&T Park San Francisco, California, USA
06.    Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), California, USA
07.    Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California, USA
08.    Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
09.    Staples Center, Los Angeles, California, USA
10.    Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, California, USA

White Animal Life (WAL) Tableware

animal

White Animal Life (WAL) tableware, a collection created by Amsterdam-based interior designer Emilie Kröner, attracted attention, for example, at this year’s New York and Milan Design Weeks. The collection includes a rhino and hippo oil-and-vinegar set, elephants as salt and pepper shakers, a flamingo carafe, leopard napkin holders, and a crocodile serving dish perfect for candy, olives or asparagus. In all, White Animal Life is a decidedly ill-functioning set of curiosities for the table. Or, if that is too harsh a description, at least Kröner puts form and beauty bravely ahead of function.

Alessandra Ambrosio

Brazilian fashion model Alessandra Ambrosio has unveiled Victoria’s Secret’s latest Fantasy Bra, this year worth 2.5 million dollars. The push-up ‘Floral Fantasy’ bra features gems handset by Long Island, New York’s London Jewelers, and includes amethysts, sapphires, rubies and diamonds, as well as a removable 20-carat white diamond in the center.

Busta Rhymes Discusses Lil Wayne’s Negative Remarks About New York.

“Everybody’s entitled to their opinion,” NY native Busta said Wednesday on Hot 97 personality Angie Martinez’s afternoon show to promote his new free LP Year of the Dragon.  In fact, Busa Bus has similar feelings toward El Paso, Texas, after he and his entourage were arrested after performing there several years back. “It don’t mean I don’t like the people there, it don’t mean I don’t like my support, my love, but I don’t like El Paso,” the Dungeon Dragon stated, making his point very clear. “My experience in El Paso makes me not like it. I haven’t done another show there since.”  As far as his buddy Weezy, Busta understands why he’s down on the Big Apple. On Monday, MTV News asked Wayne how it felt to perform in New York on August 14 with Nicki Minaj.

“You know, flat out: I don’t like New York,” Weezy said before saying he had an “awesome” time on stage with Nicki.  State Senator Malcolm A. Smith of Queens was “angry,” “taken aback” and “shocked” by Lil Wayne’s contempt for his beloved city, according to The New York Times, so much so that he organized a conference in Father Duffy Square, between West 46th and West 47th Streets, on Wednesday to demand an apology.  “If you don’t like New York,” Smith said, according to the NY Times, “you don’t have to come to New York. You don’t have to sell your products here. And perhaps we won’t come to your concerts.”

The People vs. ASAP Rocky.

A$AP Rocky got up with ‘Noisey’ at Oya Festival in Norway, to chat about his new role as Back & Forth host, and also to answer some of the You Tube comments left about the Back & Forth he did with Danny Brown. Subjects covered include his continuing relationship with Kathy Griffin and scratching Jennifer Aniston.  Check the method.

Emily Ratajkowski (Warning: Nudity).

New York photographer Jonathan Leder just posted some sizzling new black-and-white Polaroids he recently shot of 20-year-old actress/model, Emily Ratajkowski, which since it’s my birthday, I decided to throw up online regardless off the mature nature of the photos.

New York’s Hidden Subway System.

Deep in the belly of New York’s subway system, a beautiful untouched station resides that has been forgotten for years with only a limited few knowing of its existence. Stunning decoration with tall tiled arches, brass fixtures and skylights run across the entire curve of the station, almost a miniature imitation of Grand Central Station… But it sounds like something straight out of Ninja Turtles, right?

It was opened in 1904, with the hope of making it the crowning glory of the New York subway system in elegant architecture and a place for commemorative plaques to honor the work that had resulted in such a successful underground mass transit system. It was to be the original southern terminus of the first ‘Manhattan Main Line’; however the station was closed and boarded up in 1945. The gem of the underground began gathering dust, forgotten by the general public, as passengers were forced off at the Brooklyn Bridge Stop before the train continued on to the terminus to make its turnaround.

The reason for its closure was that newer longer cars were required to match the demand of passengers that passed through the system. But as the stations tracks were severely curved, a dangerous gap between the train doors and the platform was formed making it an unsafe area. This combined with the fact that only about 600 people used it, resulted in its closure with only mythical plans of turning it into a transit museum. But this was never followed through.

However, now you don’t have to take my word that the secret City Hall Station exists, as the 6 Train will now allow the passengers who have been enlightened with the knowledge of its whereabouts to stay on the train during its turnaround and see the Station. You won’t be able to get off, but you’ll be taken for a slow tour of the platform and see what a beauty it was in its heyday.

And if that isn’t enough, The Underbelly Project has turned it into a kind-of off-limits art gallery. They are a group of street artists who have painted the walls of the unattractive concrete areas with their art in a spooky art exhibition that will be witnessed only by urban explorers who prowl the deep train system at night and Metropolitan Transportation Authority workers.

But if you want to go and view these art works, you will most definitely run the high risk of being arrested as venturing the tunnels is both highly illegal and dangerous.  I’ll just stick to seeing the photographs as I’m pretty sure my search for art would turn into a horror story down in the black tunnels… or I’d get hit by a train.

The World’s First Hermes-Decorated Apartment.

Luxury property developer SC Global Developments has unveiled a private apartment decorated by Hermès at its flagship development, The Marq on Paterson Hill in Singapore.  This is the first apartment entirely decorated by Hermès and SC Global said it will not be for sale, but to be used only for private engagements.

The spacious 6,232 sq ft five-bedroom apartment features a combination of furniture, wallpaper, carpets, fabrics, rugs along with made-to-measure upholstered items and a choice of artworks.  Simon Cheong, Chairman and CEO of SC Global, said the collaboration with the Paris-based Hermès lasted for 18 months to create the unique atmosphere.

“By realising for the first time, a complete project of home decoration and furnishings, we also share with SC Global a unique experience and express our high quality values of excellence and craftsmanship in the home universe,” noted Hélène Dubrule, General Manager of Hermès Maison.

The Marq has 66 exclusive residences on a 1.2-hectare ground. The units consist of high-end bungalows within a luxury high-rise apartment setting.  The development’s unique design features include airy double-volume (6.5 metre high) living spaces providing panoramic views of the city skyline and a 15-metre cantilevered lap pool in every apartment of the Signature Tower.

Apartment sizes range from 3,000 sq ft for a 4-bedroom apartment in the Premier Tower to 6,195 sq ft for a 5-bedroom apartment in The Signature Tower.

The Cinemagraph Photos.

CLICK THE PHOTOS TO SEE THE ANIMATION.

There was a time, not too long ago, when the term “cinemagraph” was being thrown around and internet culture gravitated toward this amalgamation of still shots and modest yet aesthetically effective movement. New York-based photographer Jamie Beck and her counterpart Kevin Burg first coined the term last year, gaining a lot of recognition for their cinematic images with subtle movement.

The motion in each image exhibits just the right amount of movement. Whether it’s hair or clothing hit by a slight breeze, dangling jewelry swaying back and forth, or the endless burning flame in an otherwise frozen world, the calculated action serves a purpose in adding to the mood or aesthetic. Each gif takes a moment in time and eternalizes it in a series of repetitive loops of motion. There are also those few images that I like to call “wait for it” shots because it seems like an average still shot for a longer period of time than you’d expect and then something quickly and briefly changes.

DeadMau5 Burns The Club Down.

“Canadian DJ Deadmau5 almost set Meatpacking District club Provocateur, and himself, on fire during his set Friday night. The electronic house DJ (real name Joel Zimmerman) premiered his new song, “The Veldt,” by lighting an air horn, causing a huge spark for a crowd that included model Hilary Rhoda and singer Ciara. “Omg I actually lived through that . . . Nearly blew up myself and a Buncha people in the booth. Pyros a [bleep],” tweeted Zimmerman. Nearly 200 people were standing outside Provocateur waiting to get inside the club, where a 7-foot replica of Deadmau5’s trademark mouse-shaped headgear was erected on top of the club’s entrance.”

Pixels by Patrick Jean.

Unique content is relatively hard to find now a days in films.  Be it short films, feature length, or independent, ideas just tend to be regurgitated every so often.  But the film Pixels by Patrick Jean is something that just struck me as wildly original.  Witness the invasion of New York City by all manner of digital creatures below.

Getting Your ‘Daily Dose’.

The images above and below come from a marvelous fashion blog titled “Daily Dose”, but let me take a second to explain myself before I get a new gang of emails.  It’s a well known fact that I’m not a fashion expert, (last week I met with the former president of CBS, Sir Howard Stringer, and was wearing sweat pants and a ‘where the white girls are‘ T-shirt.)  However, this doesn’t impede my ability to spot an incredible fashion source when I see one.  Francesca Grosso, the site’s primary writer has an incredible eye for style, and 100% of her posts are equally eye catching to fashionistas or guys like me who run around business meetings in sweat pants.  Click any of the pictures to see more from ‘Daily Dose’.

Emilio Rojas – Showoff (Radio Freestyle).

Radio freestyles are a dime a dozen, and it takes something quite substantial to make one stand out now a days. But the emcee Emilio Rojas spoke some memorable lines in a way that I haven’t seen in quite some time. Check the method below.

The Will Kurtz Sculptures.

Will Kurtz‘s paper sculptures bring ordinary New Yorkers to life. Extra Fucking Ordinary is Will Kurtz’s debut exhibition at the Mike Weiss Gallery.’The show consists of life size figural sculptures constructed of collaged torn sheets of newspaper, wood, wire, screws, tape and everyday objects which depict the characters captured by Kurtz’s iPhone camera lens. Utilizing the observing eye of a curious urban voyeur, Kurtz spends large portions of his days combing the streets of New York for his subjects, which are later transformed into sincere and amusing life-size sculptures.  It is not the subjects’ aesthetic appeal that draws Kurtz as much as their essence and strong representation of the multitude of prototypes that typify New York City: from an old married couple and endearingly eccentric dog owners to curmudgeonly middle-aged smokers.

Kurtz’s sculptures openly reference real people engaged in real scenarios, be it posing for group shots at a tourist attraction, walking their dog, awkwardly changing their clothes or reluctantly sweeping the floors. Kurtz holds an admiringly holds a magnifying glass to the genre of subjects and scenes that are commonly overlooked. The subjects collectively present a candid and unapologetic mosaic of New Yorkers in their blunt, colorful, borderline-manic ways made of the same papers they read in coffee shops and subways during their morning commute.’

The World Wide Watch.

Sure, it’s a middle class problem but ever get annoyed by having to change the time on your watch when you enter a new country?  It might not be an issue that afflicts those of us who don’t go travelling that often but this ingenious watch is still perfect for those who wish that they did.  The “All Around the World” watch boasts eight hour hands, which resemble landmarks in major cities. For example, if you’re in New York then you’d use the Statue of Liberty as your hour marker. Minutes are always marked by a pigeon. You know, because they’re a given in every city.

Here’s the full list of cities and landmarks:

Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco

Salt Lake Temple, Utah

Sears Tower, Chicago

Statue of Liberty, New York

Big Ben, London

The Eiffel Tower, Paris

Istambul’s minarets

Red Square, Moscow

There are only 100 watches and each costs £150. You can find out more info, including where to buy here.

New York’s Inverted Warehouse Townhouse.

Much architectural jargon has been lavished on this Tribeca warehouse loft renovation but I just like the look of the cool, dynamic, elongated space.  This is not exactly a cozy home but its brutalist strength fits an old Manhattan warehouse well.  The Inverted Warehouse Townhouse has received numerous U.S. awards. It is the creation of Dean-Wolf Architects of New York, where architect Charles Wolf and designer Eunjeong Seong were in charge of the project.  I like the visible stairs that create a sense of lift and movement upward. We like the large surfaces of brick, steel and glass. I’m a fan of the visibility between floors and from space to space that solves the potential problem of dark boxy rooms inside a windowless warehouse.

It is an impressive conversion of a loft (of 10,500 square feet) within a vast warehouse that covers the entire lot, leaving no room for outside space, garden or patio.  The main achievements of Dean-Wolf’s work are cutting the roof open to let the natural light in and then using glass panels to let it shine into the dark centre of the expansive structure.  By doing this, they also created “outdoor” space inside, making the residence feel like it has a courtyard. They also created a large garden deck off the main living room.  To open up the key areas of the residence to this natural light, the main entry, via an elevator, is now on the fifth floor where public spaces and the bedrooms, playrooms and study are located. In a more typical townhouse, this “parlor” floor would be accessed through the front steps of the building.

Day And Night.

A fine art project Stephen Wilkes has produced about New York in the beautiful patches of day and night. “Day to Night embodies a combination of my favorite things to photograph; people on the street melded with epic cityscapes, and the fleeting moments throughout the day and night,” noted the author. Well, we should admit that these exceptionally well done photographs add a surreal dimension to various iconic New York places. To split the landscapes from AM to PM and create such a surrealist effect, Stephen kept his camera at a fixed angle for up to 15 hours, then weaved and blended the shots into one frame. Let’s now contemplate all the bustle of the city within these breathtaking shots. Hope, those of you who have never been to NY will have the time to make it up to see this in person.

The City Limits.

Different video styles have a unique way of reflecting different concepts both visually and mentally.  One of the most beautiful ways to demonstrate the passing of time, is with a tool called a time lapse.  I came across a clip by Dominic Boudreault, who used the time lapse to demonstrate a duality between the city and nature.  Regardless of the original intent, the video is downright beautiful, and capture city sights beautifully.

Locations include :

- Montreal, Quebec, Canada
- Quebec city, Quebec, Canada
- Toronto, Ontario, Canada
- Manhattan, New York, USA
- Chicago, Illinois, USA
