The Leather Gucci Checkers Set.

Gucci elevates the simple game to a new level of refinement with its leather board, case, game pieces, and storage pouch, each embossed with the signature Gucci emblem. The Checkers Set in Brown Leather by Gucci is priced at $4,350.

Gucci Flora.

Shot by fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø, the Flora by Gucci ‘The Garden’ Spring 2012 campaign stars Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw.  The Garden Collection features five colorful fragrances named Gorgeous Gardenia, Gracious Tuberose, Glamorous Magnolia, Generous Violet and Glorious Mandarin.  Abbey Lee wears lightweight chiffon gowns in various hues corresponding to the five colorful fragrances in the collection.  Packaged in Gucci’s classic hexagonal bottles, the fragrances are available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette, except Generous Violet and Glorious Mandarin that will be available exclusively at Gucci stores as 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

The Gucci Museum.

Italian fashion label Gucci inaugurated a museum in Florence Monday, showcasing the luggage and high-end clothing that have fueled the company’s success.  Located in the Palazzo della Mercanzia, the museum is only a few steps away from the 13th century Palazzo Vecchio and Michelangelo’s David.  The museum features an exhibit showing how their logo has evolved since Guccio Gucci, a former porter at the London’s Savoy hotel, founded the company in 1921.  Covering 18,460 square feet over three floors, the Gucci Museo is arranged by theme and not in chronological order. In the private basement are the Gucci archives.  On the ground floor will be a coffee shop and bookstore just downstairs from a display of handbags, red carpet outfits, and other archival pieces from Gucci.  On the second floor of the museum is a display of garments and artworks that are emblazoned with the GG logo.  Ahead of the public opening, some 200 celebrities, including the Vogue magazine chief Anna Wintour and US artist Bill Viola, attended a party held in the 14th-century palace in central Florence where the exhibits are installed.  Admission to the museum will be 6 euros with half going to help restore the City of Florence.

Custom Prada.

The Italian luxury brand takes the concept of customization a bit further than most of the competitors in its bracket by introducing the Made To Order “Lettering” Service exclusively online and in select Prada boutiques.  Backpacks, trolleys and tote bags can be customised with letters that come in pop art-tastic colours and prints.  Prada isn’t the only label to offer a personalised service. Louis Vuitton launched “Mon Monogram” in 2008 with its popular Speedy handbag and Keepall travel bag.  But the Prada brand just (to me) seems a bit steezy-er.

Gucci 3D Glasses.

In addition to Oakley, Gucci will also be rolling out 3D eyeglasses to target the high-end consumer electronics shopper.  Gucci’s version bears its familiar green and red web stripe detail at the temples and center brow bar, and a “Gucci 3D” logo on the right lens.  The Gucci 3-D glasses contain a high tech multi-layered mirrored coating which allows the wearer to view themselves in a mirror without distortion.   The mirrored coating not only provides a premium look as well as offers superior viewing and contrast enhancement, but also allows over 98 percent of visible light through, therefore not affecting viewing in a cinema environment.  An anti-reflective coating has been applied to the back of the lens for additional overall image quality by reducing scattered light, glare and blue light.”  Luxist reports that Gucci’s 3D glasses will be sold at Gucci boutiques in the U.S. next month for $225.  The new glasses will be part of Gucci Eyeweb Collection, and produced under license by Safilo Group.

Gucci Guilty

The guys over at Gucci have hired Frank Miller (Sin City, 300, The Spirit) to helm a new television commercial to promote Gucci Guilty — apparently the new fragrance for her.  The Frank Miller spot stars Chris Evans of the Fantastic Four films and Evan Rachel Wood from HBO’s True Blood with music provided by Friendly Fires.  This is just a tease but the Frank Miller aesthetic, seen onscreen in “Sin City” and “Spirit,” is on full display here.

Gucci ‘S.E.’ Heritage Glasses

The House of Gucci has come out with a new collection of “heritage” aviator sunglasses.  The three new models (unisex 1627/S, men’s 1622/S, and women’s 3108/S) all feature the red and green Gucci stripe and “G” logo on both temples.  The sunglasses come with a special edition leather case and carrying pouch and the case has a wide signature stripe while the pouch has a matching strap.
