Goodbye LMFAO

L.A. duo Redfoo and SkyBlu, otherwise known as LMFAO, have announced that they won’t be going near your ears in the foreseeable future. The announcement came early this morning, when Redfoo broke the news that LMFAO are taking a break to pursue individual interests. “I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years,” he told news.com.au. “And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time.” Redfoo added that he and SkyBlu were headed in “different directions” and didn’t know when (or if?) the pair would ever reunite musically. The uncle and nephew team first began performing together in 2006, releasing their debut album Party Rock in 2009, which scored a nomination for Best Dance/Electronica Album in the following year’s Grammy Awards. But it wasn’t until last year that the pair broke through with Party Rock Anthem from their second album Sorry for Party Rocking, the release also spawning your jam of the decade Sexy And I Know It. From there, the duo went about spreading the “party rock mission”, touring with our own Stereosonic in 2011 and attracting the attention of Santigold. But all’s not lost for LMFAO devotees, as Redfoo also revealed that he has plans to release a fashion line and launch a solo career. “All the music that I’m going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish,” he assured. “I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music.”

Louis Vuitton Board Games.

Louis Vuitton presents “All Aboard Games,” a video created by “Ill Studio”, that takes the viewer on a “fantastic and surrealist voyage inside a Louis Vuitton game case.”  All of the iconic game symbols that the French brand have been using since 1888 are featured in this colorful piece. Chess, checkers, cards, dominoes, roulette, etc…  The film was released onto LV’s online magazine New, Now and falls in line with their trend towards promoting the vintage lifestyle and the brands historical roots.

2012 Menswear Predictions.

US menswear manufacturers have noted an increase in male tailored clothing, with slimline suits set to dominate 2012.  A report published December 8 on WWD saw major American menswear retailers highlight an increasing trend towards flattering attire for gentlemen.  American market research company The NPD Group says tailored clothing sales rose more than 11 percent and sales of men’s tailored shirts rose more than 3 percent in the first half of 2011.  Although the trend for slim silhouettes has been attributed to the younger generations, older men are also looking to appear more toned in their attire.  The popularity of slim-style suits and sportswear for all generations has been noted by retailers including Men’s Wearhouse, America’s largest suit seller.

The brand’s CEO Doug Ewert explained the increasing popularity of fitted sports coats and dress shirts.  “These looks mostly target a younger customer; however, we’re starting to see growing acceptance among middle-aged customers.  A modern fit is cut closer to the body. Other characteristics include narrower lapels on suits and sport coats and narrower ties.”  Meanwhile, Brooks Brothers’ Lou Amendola explained that customers are “definitely looking for suits in a slimmer silhouette” and in classic colors such as navy, gray and simple pinstripes.

For this reason, the brand will introduce a “youthful sack suit” called the Cambridge in Spring 2012.  Ronny Wurtzburger, president of Peerless Clothing, which produces clothing for labels including Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and DKNY, has also predicted a rise in vested clothing, while explaining that shorter length jackets have been driving sales.  “A shorter jacket and tapered pants gives the slim customer a look that is different than his father’s. It’s a very hip look,” he explained.  Other menswear brands including Hugo Boss, Burberry London and Ralph Lauren Black Label are all known for their slimline tailored suits.

Nicki Minaj on E.

Last night, (unbeknownst to me) there was a special playing about Nicki Minaj, and her life both before and during stardom.  The program on E featured testimony from Nicki’s mother, father, and everyone down to her 5th grade teacher and Lil Tunchi himself.  To be 100% honest, I’m not sure how long these video’s will exist on YouTube, but if the links fail, I’ll do my best to replace them.  But before that happens, check out the E tv story on Nicki Minaj.

5 Strong Ent.

Now its no secret that its my job to make a good party, and I don’t normally shout other DJ’s but the crew over at 5 strong is quite praiseworthy. (If you couldn’t tell by the video above… they go hard). 5 Strong consists of 5 DJs, all with differing styles on the wheels of steel. 5 Strong is responsible for some of the hottest parties in New York City and New Jersey and works with artists like Rob Scott. But if your not in the tri-state area, fear not. They also have guest spots in Atlanta, Miami, and L.A. The team is sponsored by www.whatisbez.com andwww.izthatme.com. I had the distinct pleasure of rockin’ with DJ Rob Ru of 5 Strong this past new years eve in New York City, and we’re planning nothing but madness for 2011.

Top 25 Women in Mainstream Media.

All of the women featured on this site on a regular basis are incredibly beautiful, and have a ridiculous appeal, especially to someone in my industry.  But when it comes to those more saturated into mainstream media, the look of the women begins to change.  Some people have a different opinion of beauty than I do, (although Alexis Lugo is hot any which way you spin it.)  but I’ve comprised a list, with a little help from a colleague, of the 25 hottest women in mainstream media.  The list is comprised of faces like Miranda Kerr (who isn’t on this list ONLY because she’s already been featured on this blog) and features actresses, supermodels and entertainers in alphabetical order, because I don’t want to hear any crap about why someone is on the list higher than someone else.  So check the method below, but if you think there is someone who should or should be on there, let me know.
