Jay-Z & Kanye West – Made In America (Teaser).

A video trailer that is titled after Kanye West and Jay-Z’s “Watch the Throne” track “Made in America” hits the web. The teaser features black-and-white footage showing a large number of people throwing their hands in the air at a live concert.

Gangster Squad.

Click the pic to watch the trailer.

A name is everything when it comes to entertainment, but some names can be quite misleading.  When I saw the all black poster with nothing but the words ‘Gangster Squad’ on it, I assumed it was probably some flick with a bunch of rappers and starring the Tupac hologram.  But after hearing from an editor who worked on the movie about what it was really about, I was more than intrigued.  Click the pic to check this awesome trailer about a gangster true story.

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

Kardinal Offishall – Wessup.

Take a listen to one of the singles of Kardinal Offishall’s newest album.  This A.M.T.R.I.M. (Allow Me To Re-Introduce Myself) really needs to drop soon. I mean, I know it’s dropping later this month, but it still needs to come out sooner than later.

Poca J. ft. Squidy Bo – 24/7.

When you work in the entertainment industry, you never know who you’ll run into to when you walk through any door.  During a day at the ChrisMixx studio in Oakland, CA, I got to sit in on a session with Poca J and Squidy Bo, and hear a few verses from some of the dopest independent talent in the bay.  Check out the new video for ’24/7′ from Poca J. featuring Squidy Bo.

Andre 3000 Is The New Jimi Hendrix. (Seriously).

“Considering how long this has been in development, and the number of similar projects that have fallen by the wayside including a mooted Paul Greengrass directed biopic, and a fictional road trip style movie, we figured the Andre 3000 starring Jimi Hendrix movie was not going to happen. Hell, even as far back as 2008 the actor/rapper himself said, “The funny thing with the biopics [is their uncertainty], I mean, it’s the same thing with ‘Hendrix.’ It’s kinda like, until you are on set doing it you can’t say what’s going on, because everybody wants to do the movie, but there are so many things that go into a biopic.” Well, it looks like the movie is actually going ahead.

Titled “All Is By My Side,” the film is gearing up start lensing in three weeks in Ireland, with a six week production schedule mapped out. John Ridley, the writer behind “Three Kings,” “U-Turn” and the forthcoming “Twelve Years A Slave” has penned the script and will be directing as well, making his sophomore feature effort following 1997′s “Cold Around The Heart.” The film will essentially cover Hendrix’s breakthrough period from 1966 to 1967, when he was discovered in a New York club by Linda Keith, a model and girlfriend of Keith Richards at the time, who introduced him to The Rolling Stones’ manager Andrew Loog Oldham and producer Seymour Stein (who both declined to work with him), and eventually to manager/producer Chas Chandler who helped launch his career. He went to London, recorded Are You Experienced? and the rest, as they say, is history.

No word yet on the rest of the cast, but last summer, Hayley Atwell revealed she was eyeing a role but nothing has been heard since. The big question here is if the film will have rights to the songs, licensing of which tends to be expensive and difficult to come by. But we presume if cameras are set to be rolling, some kind of approval on the film has come down from the musicians’s estate, Experience Hendrix. Either way, we’re curious as hell to see how all this winds up turning out. Are You Experienced? is a fairly defining moment in rock ‘n roll history, and Hendrix is one of the titans, so let’s hope it gets the treatment it deserves.”

Rihanna – Where Have You Been (Official Video/BTS)

“Remember the beginning of the “Black Or White” video, where Michael Jackson is dancing on the African veldt? Well, that’s pretty much Rihanna’s video for the Talk That Talk club-jam “Where Have You Been,” except that Rihanna’s video is (obviously) way, way sexier, and it sadly doesn’t feature an airborne George Wendt.

In the video, Riri plays some sort of desert warrior princess, and she looks extremely good, which is sort of the point of a video like this one.”  If that isn’t enough for you, take a look at the behind the scenes of “Where Have You Been,” the singer showcases some sick dance moves. Watch the singer’s rigourous routine courtesy of choreographer, Hi-Hat.

Love Is Making It’s Way Back Home.

This great video for Josh Ritter’s Love Is Making Its Way Back Home was directed by Erez Horovitz and involves the meticulous animation of over 12,000 laser-cut pieces of construction paper. Via Etsy:

A team of nearly twenty artists, editors, directors and product assistants ushered the video into being. The group started with storyboarding and computer animation before converting the digital graphics to paper cutouts (frame by frame), photographing those 12,000 cutouts and then stitching them together into four minutes of paper animation.

Precious Paris feat. 50 Cent – Everything Ok.

With more and more female emcees in the game as of late, it’s no surprise that some have a different persona than others.  Nicki Minaj can be whimsical, and does the pop thing on the side, The Bobby Effect is hard spitting, and lyrical, but can also whip up a banger of a party track, and artists like Precious Paris just have the gangster roll down to a science.  Check out her latest video ‘Everything O.K.’ featuring 50 Cent.

Asher Roth feat. Meek Mill – Party Girl.

I’ve been a fan of Mr. Roth since before the release of ‘I Love College’, but you can’t always predict what any emcee will decide to do musically.  A collaboration between Meek Mill and Asher Roth seems a bit off the scale of possibility, but then again, stranger things have happened.  Click below to take a listen to ‘Party Girl’ from Asher Roth ft. Meek Mill.

Bow Wow – Drank In My Cup (Freestyle).

The track ‘Drank In My Cup’ has been climbing the charts ever since it’s release earlier this year, and many an emcee have jumped on the beat to do their own versions.  Fortunately, one voice stands out from the rest of the crowd.  Bow Wow’s ‘Drank In My Cup’ freestyle has a dope video, and massive support behind it, making it one of the most seen remixes since the original song.  Check the method below.

Baracka Flocka Flame – I Run The Military.

When it comes to Presidential spoofs, not too many gained the national recognition of “Baracka Flocka Flame – Head Of The State“.  The video has millions offended including the originator of the track Waka Flocka Flame, but now the creators of the video are back with Baracka Flocka Flame’s ‘I Run The Military’.  Because it’s such a witty, funny, and clever take on politics, rap, and Obama, I’m

Iggy Azalea ft. T.I. – Murda Buziness.

During my tracking session with DJ Jeff Phantom last night, I stumbled across a song that struck me as kind of odd.  Not odd in a bad way, but I just could not let the entire song finish.  About half way through T.I.’s verse on Iggy Azalea’s ‘Murda Buziness’, I just kept starting the song from the beginning, over and over again.  With a wild beat produced by Bei Maejor, this track found a way to fly to the top of my favorite track list before the first time I even listened to the entire thing.  Check the method below.
