Me In My Place – Alex.

Alex is a native North Carolinian, 23 years old, and has been living in New York for almost five years now. Although she says she misses the mountains, the grit, grime, and glamour of good ol’ NYC is where she wants to be.   Alex is a performer (dancer/actor) and is currently freelancing on a few projects in the city.  She also work with kids during most days and teach yoga classes a few nights a week.  The site Me In My Place certainly knows how to pick them, and whenever my team finds a girl that doesn’t fit the usual mold of this blog, but is still quite appetizing, MIMP seems to do the trick.   Where else can you find a dancer/actress who has lingerie-clad pillow fights while the boys in neighboring fraternities try peeking through the windows.

The Stylish Blog Of Ms. Nicoletta Gauci.

Working as closely as models as I do now a days, I’ve become well aware of the fact that it takes quite a bit of work before guys see the photos they fawn over.  Having a photographer is an obvious must, but his/her assistants, background artists, wardrobe coordinators, and stylists are all just as crucial to making a photo shoot work as having a skilled model is.  I was on the hunt over the last few days to find a stylist for an upcoming shoot, and came across an incredible stylist from Los Angeles, CA.

The bio on her professional site reads:

Nicoletta Gauci is a unique blend of Los Angeles native with European flair. She received formal artistic training first from the Academy of Art University where the very different worlds of art principle, application, and business would first collide. Thanks to a strong line of fundamental training, most notably from the Paul Mitchell School, and a continual thirst for education and experience, she has been able to achieve great heights early in her career. This now even-stronger combined foundation outlined a path that would take her to new depths as a hair stylist.

Nicoletta has styled hair for numerous editorial and beauty shoots as well as for celebrity personalities and marketing campaigns. Her work has also taken her into the world of art direction for magazine submissions as well as education for both future and current hairstylists. Currently Nicoletta is based outside of Milan, Italy and splits her time between being lead colorist at Italys premiere Paul Mitchell Focus Salon, collaborating as part of Paul Mitchell Italias Artistic Team, and shooting Internationally. Her days are spent traveling with a smile on her face, brush in her hand and desire to share her bliss with the world.

Now, aside from her body of professional work, she runs a blog that would make even the most seasoned stylist feel a tad bashful.  On NicolettaGauci.WordPress.com there are a staggering amount of interesting concepts, ideas, styles, pictures videos and content by which virtually any reader could become hooked.  I don’t normally site too many other blog sites through my own, but this one is site to take a look at.  Click the photos either above or below to see Nicoleta Gauci’s blog.

The DJ Storm iPhone A.P.P.

Technology is the wave that’s sweeping up and coming artists into the spotlight now a days.  I remember just a few years ago, Soulja Boy was a shining light among fledgling rappers for being signed off YouTube hits.  But now a days, promoters, radio stations, magazines, label execs, and even DJ’s take a look at someone’s web stats when considering doing work with an artist.  The web and all the devices interconnected to it are now the way to spread music through the world, and the creative force Adam Patton over at ‘Down With A.P.P.‘ is well aware of this.  Luckily for me, Mr. Patton, one of the most talented people in digital media had the DJ Storm brand in mind when conceptualizing a creative iPhone application.  Everything in the photos is purely at a concept stage, but you can read more at the BeHance.net page.

Getting Your ‘Daily Dose’.

The images above and below come from a marvelous fashion blog titled “Daily Dose”, but let me take a second to explain myself before I get a new gang of emails.  It’s a well known fact that I’m not a fashion expert, (last week I met with the former president of CBS, Sir Howard Stringer, and was wearing sweat pants and a ‘where the white girls are‘ T-shirt.)  However, this doesn’t impede my ability to spot an incredible fashion source when I see one.  Francesca Grosso, the site’s primary writer has an incredible eye for style, and 100% of her posts are equally eye catching to fashionistas or guys like me who run around business meetings in sweat pants.  Click any of the pictures to see more from ‘Daily Dose’.

Drake’s Club Paradise Tour Footage.

Anyone now a days who’s doing anything noteworthy tends to make videos of their exploits.  And true to form, Drizzy Drake has created a video-log of his current Club Paradise tour adventures.  Check the method below.

Oh, So That’s What That Means?

With the advent of Tumbrl, people have been able post some pretty entertaining streams of information onto the web.  One of the most clever I’ve seen in quite some time is “Oh, So That’s What That Means”.  Its a simple series of pictures with text that explain what things may mean to us now a days.  Check the method.

Jeri Lee x Illest.

They say certain things run in the family, and not to sound the wrong way, but I’m very appreciative that talent runs in mine.  The clothing line ‘Illest’ has had many different looks and styles over the years, but when my brother Reginald Sylvester got a hold of a design job with them, I started to really follow the brand.  Recently the minds behind ‘Illest’ teamed up with model Jeri Lee to shoot some of their newest styles designed by Reggie.  Check out his designs… and Jeri’s body.

The Alter Ego Party.

Photo collections are nothing new to this blog, but it’s rare that I find a diverse collection of incredibly stylistic photos from the same night.  Janell Shirtcliff’s birthday party was full of interesting characters that were all sporting their alter-ego’s as costumes.  Now before someone who attended that party hits me up, I have no idea who Janell Shirtcliff is, or when or where her birthday party was… I just know it was her party because the source I got it from says so instead of telling me who the photographers was.  But none the less it seemed like quite an eventful night, and props to this amazing photographer.

DJ Storm’s Interview with Miss Arie Rose.

Everyone has heard the saying “A day late, and a dollar short”… (luckily for me, with the success of my career, I’m never a dollar short) however, I was a day late with this post.  Hours of traveling to different editing studios, deliberating with my staff on what songs to mix for the background (ending up with 26 different pro-tools sessions all with different song combinations), waiting for graphic designers to create the appropriate text, all in combination with rendering and uploading times, I missed a few deadlines.  But hey, we’re perfectionists, sue us.  But when its all said and done, my first video interview starring Miss Arie Rose deserves nothing less than the pursuit of perfection.

Arie Rose has been doing her thing for quite some time.  I came across her when we worked on an episode of “Street Files” together a year or so ago, and was enthralled with the idea of sitting down to talk to her about all that she’s accomplished, all that she’s planning, and just her day to day life.  So that’s exactly what I did.  Ben Einhorn and his incredible video crew came through to Sugar Cafe in downtown San Francisco to meet with Arie and I to capture the action.  Check the method below to see how it all went.

Don’t forget to follow Arie on twitter @MissArieRose.

Big Sean’s On Tour Video Blog.

Big Sean has been doing his thing for a while, and with the release of “Finally Famous” has for sure had a few songs on constant repeat on my phone.  But since the release of his freshman album, he’s been doing quite a bit.  Check the method below.

Two Roads To Courage.

Growing up with quite a few cousins my age, when Christmas time came and we were all together, there was a little bit of gift envy between some of us.  This is exactly the way I felt when I saw a blog post from Tyler Riewer about a birthday gift he received.  It’s a suitcase – perfectly fitted for a bottle of bourbon and a set of brass knuckles. The outside says, “Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. Sack up.”  The inside offers, “The two roads to courage.”  They built/screenprinted the whole thing.  It’s incredible.  His friends are amazing.

Fresh Fauxx.

Herman Lee, may not be a fresh face to the design game, but the graphic design in his portfolio are quite fresh.  Graphic T’s, illustrations, and all assortments of graphic/typographical hybrids sprinkle his repertoire.  Check the method below, and more work from Herman Lee can be found at FreshFauxx.
