Csetvei Winery Hrsz. 737 Wine Label Design

01 02 03

Take a look at the creative packaging design by Kira Koroknai, Budapest. As a starting point, Kira’s goal was to create a minimalistic and eye-catching design which fits to the extant identity of Csetvei Winery. With the black and white pattern, she wanted to reflect on the wine’s characteristic and full-bodied taste. The other aspect of the designing was to create the unity of the label and the bottle. Kira wanted the bottle design to be a part of the treat of drinking wine, that’s why she chose the full bottle design instead of a classic label form. This way, the bottle also becomes a part of enjoying the wine. It creates a personal experience as the drinker holds and turn the bottle around while having a chat.

Daft-Punk-shot-by-Hedi-Slimane Daft-Punk-Saint-Laurent-Paris

French designer and creative director of luxury label Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane has designed stage gear for the return of the epic electronic musical duo Daft Punk. Set to hit stores at the end of May, Daft Punk’s upcoming album “Random Access Memories” is one of this year’s most eagerly anticipated releases. In the black and white visuals, shot in Los Angeles, the band (made up of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter) are dressed in stage wear by Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent, including a black glitter jacket, ‘le smoking’. The designer’s Rock Diary project has also seen Slimane create a visual record of his relationships with his favorite musicians and bands.

Whether it’s in black and white, or with a little bit of colors, Silvia Grav’s pictures have a glimpse of darkness. A mix between a cold winter afternoon & a depression storm. Here’s a selection of her portraits and other captured instants.

Alexander Khokhlov is a Russian photographer who loves to use the human face as his canvas for creating graphic, black and white face painting with makeup. From the WiFi icon to the pop icon, Mickey Mouse, or a QRcode across his model’s faces, Khokhlov’s project is quite interesting. Rather than relying on canvas, paper, or any other synthetic material, Khokhlov relies on the beauty and lines of the feminine face to form this project.

Blood of Grapes Wine Bottle

03

This creative bottle design was created by Belarusian designer, Constantin Bolimond. His idea is based around the concept of wine as the blood of grapes. The striking form is themed off a human heart to reference the fruit’s origin – France. The product is realized in black and white finishes, featuring a simple inverse typeface to communicate the wine’s label. The design brings a new meaning to the devil’s nectar.

15 Of The Best Black And White Photos.

We all know a picture is worth a thousand words.  A photograph however is also worth the time, effort, conceptual vision, and execution that the photographer put into it.  Black and white photography seems to have a special grit to it that not too many other styles can capture, which makes them a bit more gripping when on display.  I know I’ve covered several different sets of stunning black and white photographs before, but the selection I stumbled on recently left me needing to put them up.  So check the method.

Frances Bean Cobain Models For Hedi Slimane.

It’s hard not to talk about her very public beef with mom Courtney Love, or what it’s like to grow up as the heir and legacy of one of rock and roll’s most tortured souls, her father Kurt Cobain. But Frances Bean Cobain (named as such, as rock legend goes, after Seattle’s Frances Farmer and the fact that she looked like a bean as a baby) has done remarkably well avoiding publicity. Which, despite the air of tragedy and complexity around her, is kind of a shame, because as Hedi Slimane’s recent photo shoot depicts, she’s a magnetic and alluring young lady.

Slimane who is, famous for his stint at Dior Homme, sat down with Frances for a group of stark, revealing black and white photos that are simultaneously eerie because Frances looks like a woman (instead of the baby oft-photographed with her grunge-icon parents) and because Frances looks like the precise blend of mom and dad. But also, she looks beautiful, wearing little makeup and a lot of jewelry, staring down the camera like she was born for it and like she grew up in front of it (she didn’t). Romantic, introspective, and intense, its a dope collection.

Federico Erra’s B&W Photography.

I really love portraits. I think they are beautiful, inspiring and sometimes intriguing. And what I like most about them is that some photographers have the ability to turn them into really deep pieces, in something that communicates without saying a word, in something that we look and find a connection between the person in the photo, the scene, the atmosphere, everything. Browsing around Flickr I found Federico Erra’s gallery and simply loved it. He has some really impressive photos to show. I specially loved the monochromatic ones, so I had to put them up.
