The Minimalist Hero.

As super hero movies continue to dominate the summer blockbuster season, the graphic designers behind their poster seem to have been running the same circles.  The posters for Ironman 2 look quite similar to the Tron posters, which in turn, look strikingly like the classic Star Wars posters.  Designer Marko Manev has taken his time to turn the tables on this trend.  Take a look at his brilliant minimalistic super hero posters.

Rob Scott x The Band Perry – If I Die Young.

Hip Hop artists have been re-imagining songs from other genres for quite some time now, some are hits, others are misses.  Rob Scott recently took on this challenge on his project ‘To Be Continuted’, and passed the test with flying colors.  ‘The Band Perry’ lends its wonderfully written song to the beat of Rob Scott’s new mix of “If I Die Young” and the combination couldn’t have come out any better.  Check the official video below, and don’t hesitate to download Scott’s mixtape ‘To Be Continued‘.

The Crashed Ferrari Coffee Table.

This is a coffee table containing the compacted remains of a Ferrari inside constructed by designer Charly Molinelli.  He came up with the idea after a customer asked him to design something “a bit special” for their front room.  He then sourced a wreck and built a wooden cabinet on wheels to present to his client – although the price of the swanky piece is unknown.

Candice Swanepoel, Lindsay Ellingson, Lily Aldridge, And Erin Heatherton In GQ.

I had this totally well rounded, encapsulating write up I was gonna do on the new edition of GQ but saw these photos and forgot everythi…

The New Movie Theater.

We don’t go to the movies to admire the theatre, but would it kill theatre owners to build even one with an edge? Time and time again, we are disappointed in the new, mega multiplexes that are boring beyond belief in their sameness and recycled ideas. So, we must admit that there is not much to celebrate but are seeing little glimmers of hope and ingenuity once in a while. One example is the AMC Pacific Place Cinema in Hong Kong refurbished by Hong Kong-based James Law. The entrance areas to the six auditoriums seating 600 in 1.2-meter wide leather seats plus the a VIP theatre for 39 offer some unusual eye candy, but I’d love to see more.  Check the method.

What Are The Odds That You Would Be You?

The Masonry Cyrus Aston Martin.

Mansory has release the Cyrus package based on the Aston Martin DBS or the Aston Martin DB9. A coilover suspension provides the best road holding and emphasises the striking rims in XXL. The refinement is perfected by an exclusive interior programme. At the front axle, a newly designed front skirt with enlarged air inlets provides the optimal ventilation for the twelve-cylinder aggregate. The Mansory CYRUS Aston Martin DBS / DB9 front is visually enhanced with the newly designed carbon bonnet. The newly designed rear skirt with the integrated diffuser emphasises the superior look and provides space for four stainless steel end pipes of the sonorous sport exhaust system.

Common – Sweet (Official Video).

Common is gearing up for the December release of his ninth studio album, titled The Dreamer, The Believer, and releases its newest visual for the latest single, “Sweet.”  The song itself just makes me ask the question “Common, why are you so upset?”.  But apparently, the Chicago rap star experienced a life-changing moment during a recent trip to Haiti to shoot the clip. Over the course of four days, Common and director Phil the God captured the everyday life of the people following 2010′s earthquake.  Proceeds from the premiere were donated to the J/P Haitian Relief Organization to assist with relief efforts.  The Dreamer, The Believer is due out December 20th.

The Nooka Zon Watch.

Wrath on all imitators… straight up.  Behold a real Nooka wristwatch. Here we’ve got 100% real, accept no substitutes, brand name you can trust, love and devotion produced Nooka watch. It’s a “luxury” digital watch called “ZON.” It’s a world time watch with graph display and number display for time.  People know Nooka; they know Nooka is made up of the kind of people that stand for quality.  The real Nooka is about to release the ZON: 24 time zones, real metal mesh straps, and pixels that pass through the display like sands through the hourglass; (these are the minutes of our lives.) It has a Chronograph, alarm, 37.5 x 45 x 9.2 mm / 22mm wide band, water resistant to 5ATM, and a scrumtrilescent mirrored face.

Drake’s Interview With Vevo.

In the world I occupy, there seems to be much speculation behind Drake’s intentions when recording his sophomore album Take Care.  Some say he’s lost his edge, other think he’s being experimental with his art, and there are the few who just think Drizzy has lost the plot.  I personally don’t have a dog in that fight.  I just appreciate good music no matter what the message was intended to be, but for those of you who might have been wondering the same thing, check out Drake’s interview with Vevo.

The Josefine/Roxy Club.

Brazilian architect Fred Mafra, no novice to night club design, was given the unusual opportunity to redesign his earlier work, the night club Josefine/Roxy.  Since 2007, the club has been a strong player in Savassi, the night life area of Belo Horizonte, the capital of and largest city in the state of Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil.  The 955m² space has two dance floors, three bars, plus four VIP areas that can be combined into one larger VIP space. In addition, it has two lounges and smoking areas with a retractable roof.

With his new design, Mafra went to town with the hexagon and triangle forms.  By using them in the honeycombed ceilings and black-and-white floors, by including padded-vinyl seating and walls, and by lighting the space with creative LED, he’s created an angularly sinful madhouse effect that is destined to help guests forget the outside world.  Roxy Club is open on Wednesdays and Fridays when the DJs play techno and e-music to a straight crowd. Josefine Club is open on Thursdays and Saturdays when the DJs play tribal and pop music to gay/hipster crowd.

Takashi Murakami.

Been an avid admirer of his work for a few years now, The works of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami have inspired both admiration and confusion. Inspired primarily by anime, Japanese animation, and manga, Japanese comics, Murakami’s paintings and sculptures feature bright, candy-colored images of cartoon-like characters, with large eyes and exaggerated body parts. His works are often decorated with smiling flowers, round, blinking eyes, and colorful mushrooms. Murakami’s creations defy traditional classifications, breaking down numerous barriers. He blurs the line between so-called high art (the kinds of works normally seen in museums and galleries) and “low” art, like that seen in cartoons or advertisements. He also contradicts the traditional idea of an artist toiling away in a studio to painstakingly create one-of-a-kind works.  Check it out.

The Fire Breather.

One look at this mysterious whip and your lead foot just starts twitching. The Firebreather is a 2011 Camaro re-tooled & restyled by American muscle car custom house, Classic Design Concepts. Originally the ‘breather was made for the forthcoming movie, Jinn. Now, CDC is making 50 of these supercharged, 600 horsepower monsters available to the public. Good luck getting on that list.

Brooklyn Baylee x Enny M Photography.

It’s a well known fact that I’m always throwing photographers up on this blog, I’m a fan of vivid images, and people who capture riveting subjects with their work.  It’s also a fact that this blog is well known for the models I put up every few days, so I thought it a bit appropriate to combine the two for once.  The photographer Enny M. has been doing work with he Dominican-American Brooklyn Baylee for a little while now, and his combination of lighting, concept, and skill behind the camera seems to capture Ms. Baylee perfectly.  Brooklyn was born and raised in Northern New Jersey in 1985 and is the youngest of seven children. This fiery beauty is more than just a pretty face however. She is currently obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with hopes of working for Homeland Security.  Ms. Baylee has a wide range of talents other than her… astonishing 34F chest. She began studying dance at the age of eight and singing before she was able to speak which makes her someone to look forward to as her career progresses in the coming years.

Enny M. is a freelance photographer from northern New Jersey with over half a decade of photography experience.  His expertise doesn’t stop at women.  His street racing collection of photos you can find scattered around the web are a great example of how versatile and multifaceted his skills are.  Currently a college student with a Information Technology major and he is also a photography intern at a prominent studio in the Tri-State area.  If there are any models interested in shooting, he says the best way to contact him is through email at ennymphoto@gmail.com or his website.  But I do suggest going online and checking out the bulk of his portfolio.

MetroFarm DJ Decks.

From Berlin Germany, MetroFarm Studio has produced a number of stunning, custom built DJ Desks. Having released a concrete DJ table a couple of years back, the new desks, in folded stainless steel and wood painted black and neon orange demand attention.  But they’re not just for finely tuned vinyl slingers looking for the perfect ergonomic ratios to heighten their musical flow. They’re for anybody with a musical mind and an eye for detail, looking to add spark to a lounge room, club or gallery.  It’s art for the DJ’s sake.

I Didn’t Know Japan Make Whisky.

Japan‘s top whisky distiller has started accepting orders for a limited run of a whisky that has been aged in oak barrels for more than 50 years.  Shipments of the Yamazaki Single Malt 50-Year-Old Whisky will begin on Dec 13, in response to orders taken at department stores and liquor shops across Japan.  Suntory said it is only producing 150 bottles, but added that demand had already been strong and that it is considering another similar release in the future.  Whisky is enjoying a renaissance in Japan, in part because of the newfound popularity of the highball among a new generation of drinkers, but also because of the growing reputations of Japanese distillers.  Suntory, for example, took the top prizes in the International Spirits Challenge, held in London in November 2010, with its 1984 Single Malt winning both the best whisky in the competition and the Supreme Champion Spirit award.  With the release of its 50-year-old vintage whisky, Suntory is aiming to promote interest among connoisseurs.  The company said the drink had been matured in barrels of Japanese oak that has helped to create a fragrance and flavor that are unique.  Reddish-amber in color, the taste is both mellow and strong, reminiscent of rich, ripe fruit, while the aftertaste is sweet and faintly smoky.  Each 700-milliliter bottle will be priced at Y1 million (€9,511).

Social Lights.

Social media is obviously here to stay.  With the advent of things like Facebook and Twitter, and cell phones that support those services, you’ll always have people around is with phones to their faces.  One photographer decided to take that concept and run with it in his photo-series ‘Social Lights’.

The 2012 Louis Vuitton Cruise.

After the overwhelming response I got from the post on the 2012 Campari calendar I started looking for some other interesting ads that folks had planned for 2012.  After a brief search, I found the 2012 Louis Vuitton Cruise ads.  The lovely Arizona Muse is captured by Mark Segal’s camera for Louis Vuitton Cruise, and all the pictures are somewhat reminiscent of classic Bond films.

A Sit Down With B.o.B.

The guys at ‘Gowhere Hip Hop’ sit down with B.o.B. while he visited Chicago recently for a listening party of his new album Strange Clouds, and a collaboration with Andre’ 3000.  Check the method.

Anton Semenov’s Wild Illustrations.

Illustrations are (in their simplest for) just a reflection of something you think up in your mind.  That being said, I’m a little worried about Anton Semenov.  His dark, brooding, psychedelic, and almost alien illustrations are nothing short of amazing.  Check some of the this Russian illustrators great artwork below.

The Electric Rolls-Royce Phantom 102EX.

Luxury car maker Rolls-Royce has developed its first electric-powered vehicle, that goes up to 125 miles fully charged.  The one-off Phantom 102EX has been touring the globe to gauge the reactions of Rolls-Royce owners and potential customers to a fully electric-powered car.  The 6.75-liter V-12 was replaced by a massive 71-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery housed within the aluminum spaceframe.

“We have engineered the world’s first battery electric vehicle for the ultra-luxury segment,” chief executive Torsten Muller-Otvos said in a statement.  “We begin an exploration into alternative drive-trains, seeking clarity on which alternative technologies may be suitable to drive Rolls-Royce cars of the future.”  The company wants to ascertain how long the car can drive between re-charges and how it operates in extreme weather conditions, but there are no plans yet to develop a production version.

“I must be convinced that any alternative drive-train we choose for the future delivers an authentic Rolls-Royce experience,” Muller-Otvos said.  “It must be a technology that is right for our customers, our brand and which sets us on a sound footing for a sustainable future.”

I’m In L.A. Trick.

As I normally do for vacations, I always put up one last post so readers know why I’ve stopped posting all of a sudden.  This weekend, I’ll be at U.S.C. for homecoming once again.  And this year, (just like LAST YEAR) I’m sure things are going to be a rawkus jumble of work, fun, and excessive drinking.  So that being said, if your a religious post reader, sit tight until Monday when I can cure my soon to be hangover and get back to work.  But if your still a bit impatient, catch up with all the mischief on twitter @YoungStark where I’ll be posting up anything interesting live as it occurs.
