Lets Get Into It.

Because of certain companies and websites who invest in my blog to promote their products, services, and events, I haven’t been allowed to post certain content.  But for one day, Friday the 11th of Feb. to take a day off from limits and restrictions.  So right now I’ll say if anything posted up today offends you, shocks you, or isn’t content that you deem acceptable, just remember that this is MY site.  These are the things I find interesting, amazing, and innovative, and these are the things I wish to share.  Things today will be a bit more racy, sexual, provocative, racist, intense, and thought provoking than usual.  But once again if it’s too much for you, I’ll let you know when it’s over.  Enjoy.

Meet Pico.

Pico - "I Feer Sreepy"

The first time I saw this camera, the first thought that came into my head is “This has Kristy W. written ALL over it.”  but this interesting little camera has alot more under its cute appearance than it may seem.  Don’t let the designer fool you, it’s three things in one. This is “Pico,” a projector/video camera, two in one.  It has a camera for an eye, a projector for another eye, and a microphone for a smile.  It’s also got fold-out feet so it can stand on its own.  Pico features the ability to plug a tripod into it, but that’s neither here nor there.  The Pico also has the ability to Present and record at the same time, and work free of a laptop or other potentially cumbersome computer.  Like the rest of this “smart object” generation, this device has the ability to do everything in and of itself.  It has a full-size display on the back from whens you can also present on a more personal level.  With optical zoom lenses, simple to use interface, and compactness, I just might pick one of these up for my birthday or something.

The Official X-Men: First Class Trailer.

After the debacle that was X-Men: The Last Stand, Fox is trying to reboot its Marvel mutant franchise by having Bryan Singer, who directed the well-liked first two installments of the initial trilogy, to produce a prequel.  And the studio hired Matthew Vaughn, who was actually on tap to direct Last Stand before deciding against it, to direct First Class, which is not only a prequel, but a period prequel, set in the funky 1960s.  And it’s got a crop of many up-and-comers and new stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Michael Fassbender.  So is this a makeup movie that sets the ship back on course? The answer comes June 3.  Check the trailer out below and enjoy.

20 Miraculous Photos.

Ever since I posted the spot about National Geographic and some of their most amazing photos, I’ve had people emailing me asking for more photos from that collection.  unfortunately a top 10 doesn’t really go past 10.  So what I did was search the net to find 21 more photos from all around the world that truly astounded me.  The photo above may just seem like 2 simple turtles, but a distinct depiction a pseudo-inspirational underwater scene is something most photographers have never shot before, which is why it stuck out to me.  So check the method below to see what other photos I thought stood out over the web, and let me know what you think.

Guy le Tatooer’s Arm Gallery.

So when you think of an arm gallery, people may be a bit confused.  But Guy le Tatooer (yes, it’s exactly what you think) developed an entire gallery of false arms to show off his work.  These are some photos from Guy le Tatooer’s tattoo arm exhibition at the Gimpel & Muller gallery in Paris.  Guy says he created them using his arm and silicon. After, he used a traditional electric system to tattoo the arms.  Guy also says he wanted to show tattoo with a real vision in a gallery.

8-Bit vs. Reality.

UK designer, Aled Lewis crosses the streams of reality and 8-bit with a fun new photographic series. Aled is best known for his clever t-shirt illustrations on Threadless, but his latest project superimposes your favorite pixelated video game characters of yesteryear with photographs of real life scenarios.

The iPad 2?

Apple has started production of a thinner, more powerful version of its popular iPad tablet computers, according to the Wall Street Journal.  The second-generation iPad will have more memory and a front-facing camera for capabilities such as a Face Time video-conferencing feature on Apple iPhone 4.  Cupertino, California-based Apple said that it sold nearly 15 million iPads in the eight months after the tablet computers were introduced in April of last year.  I’m sure my father will be ALL over it.

Weeds Good.

My boys with FreedMinds are giving away free tickets the Oddfuture OFWGKTA concert.  As anyone who’s a fan of Oddfuture knows Oddfuture is a fan of Mary Jane.  So if you excited to go to the show, submit your best weed smoking picture to info@freedminds.com, and the best picture will win free tickets to the show.  Good luck, always pass to the left.

The Armani Exchange Spring 2011 Collection.

For a few different reasons, I’ve been on my fashion game a bit harder than previous years, and one new ad campaign in particular really caught my eye.  Here’s the Armani Exchange S/S 2011 ad campaign with Simon Nessman, Alejandra Alonso, Marlon Teixeira, Francisco Lachowski and Clara Alonso.  The “Style Festival” campaign was photographed for 3 days at Empire Polo Fields, in Indio, California by Matthew Scrivens and styled by Kate Lanphear.

Lil Wayne, Drake, and Play N Skillz Celebrate the XLV.

Many people celebrated the Superbowl this year in many different ways, but not too many as extravagantly as Weezy F. Baby and Drizzy Drake.  After the release of Lil Wayne’s independent track “Green And Yellow”, I’m sure he was quite relieved when Green Bay took the win.  But check the method below to see Lil Wayne, Drake, and Play N Skillz at their post XLV bash.

The ‘New’ House Pool.

Italian company Kos presented new concept of in-house pool named Faraway Pool.  Guaranteed to add a unique, inviting touch to any home, the Faraway Pool can be built in to the floor.  The pool is always in level with the floor and the water doesn’t overflow, thanks to the ground-level fissure that doubles the pool’s outline.  To top that, the Faraway Pool features underwater illumination, which will make for a truly romantic experience.  Added to its beauty is the blower placed under the steps that allows the water surface to ripple beautifully over the entire pool.  An object of great emotional impact, for infinitely pleasurable moments. Pricing is available on request from the company.

The Artwork Of Adrian Borda.

There aren’t too many illustrators/painters that I’d honestly describe as stunning, but Adrian Borda’s work as just that.  Romanian artist Adrian Borda attended the Art High School in Targu-Mures before continuing the specialization in Iasi, “George Enescu” University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, painting field.  His artwork is dark, passionate, twisted, and draws the attention of the viewer in a deep way that not too many other pieces do.  And take a look at the pictures in depth, almost every time you see each piece, you’ll notice something you didn’t notice before.

DMX – Time To Get Paid.

Yes, that’s right.  For all those 80′s babies out there, take a second to soak it in.  DMX is trying to make his way back on the rap scene.  (I know you just smiled a little bit Lisa.)  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Dog, he’s endured countless trials and tribulations, not knowing how to act in public, and an arrest record longer than most rappers since 2003…  But recently he’s hooked back up with long time partner/producer Swizz Beatz to bring out “Time To Get Paid” among a few other tracks leaked on the web.  The beat for “Time To Get Paid” features a classic B.I.G. sample, and some sultry organ work on the part of Swizzy.  The beat itself is a bit different than I’m accustomed to hearing from Swizz, but it works well for the content of the song.  There are a few moments in the track that kind of confuse me, like what seems like a bridge after a chorus that sounds like it was recorded over the phone, and the only version available is edited, so half the song is in audible, BUT, all that being said, I still think the song was well constructed, and it’s already on my iPhone for repeated listening.  Click the pic to hear “Time To Get Paid”.

Hennessy VSOP Helios.

The world’s leading cognac house Hennessy has launched the Hennessy V.S.O.P Hélios, the first of the “Privilège Collection by Hennessy”.  An exclusive new bottle will be released each year from this collection to reveal exceptional and exciting facets of this most famous V.S.O.P cognac in the world.  So many folks I’m around talk about enjoying ‘Henny’ but I’m anxious as to who’ll be the first person I see with a bottle of Hélios.  Hennessy V.S.O.P Hélios has varnished its bottle in a layer of silver, colored to resemble pink gold, and thus giving it a brilliant and constantly changing reflection.  Hennessy V.S.O.P Hélios delivers a rich crescendo of aromas that include the spiciness of vanilla and cinnamon, as well as delicate toasted notes arising from the cognac’s long and balanced maturation in oak barrels.  In 70cl, 150cl and 300cl sizes, as well as with a 5cl miniature gift bottle, Hennessy V.S.O.P Hélios is currently on sale.

Scratch And Itch.

I know without a shadow of a doubt that anyone who doesn’t work in my industry may be a bit confused, so let me explain… Serato Scratch is the industry standard for DJ’s.   Essentially it gives you the freedom to take your entire digital music collection on the road, and it equips you with advanced features that add extra creativity to your DJing.   Here are some Scratch Live highlights from NAMM Show 2011 in Anaheim, California featuring performances from Blakey, Forty One, and Gaslamp Killer.

Scratch

Now that you know what Scratch IS, the real exciting some stuff comes in the form of the SL4.  The Rane SL 4 for Serato Scratch Live is described by the website as  “The ultimate high-end solution for professional DJs.  The SL 4 is the first standalone DJ interface to offer two USB ports, superior sound with 96kHz sample rate and 24-bit digital audio processing and galvanic isolation to eliminate computer noise and interference.  Teamed with low latency ASIO and Core Audio drivers, the SL 4 can also be used as a high-grade studio production tool.”  Its essentially the iPhone of DJ gear. Feature and performance enhancements include:

  • Inputs for four turntables or CD decks switchable in any combination.
  • Two high-speed USB 2.0 ports for seamless DJ changeover and back-to-back performance.
  • Aux Input for session recording or LiveFeed.
  • Aux Output assignable to the SP-6 Sample Player and The Bridge.
  • 48 kHz and 96 kHz sample rate switch on the SL 4 rear.
  • 10-in 10-out USB sound card with any software supporting ASIO or Core Audio.
  • Built in galvanic isolation for the purest audio signal.
  • Four software-switchable analog Thru connections for regular vinyl or CD.
  • Bus power from either USB port or the included external power supply.

Itch

As for Itch… It’s essentially Scratch, without having to use turntables.  Not necessarily my steeze, but still fully capable of producing some great music when the right person is behind it.  Check some footage from the 2011 NAMM show below.

Magnetic Water?

Fridge magnets is a design industry by itself. I have a cousin who has covered the entire door with cool collectibles from around the world, and a good friend who has custom made fridge magnets from her big sister. The ‘Waterdrop Magnet’ is a surreal representation of water drops and most definitely belongs to the ‘Wall of Fame’. Prime for holding up Junior’s school artwork and A-grade report card! Also an alternative for post-it notes.

Victoria M.

Normally the models I come across are established across the world, the hip hop community, or the internet.  Stumbling across the lovely Victoria M, however, proves that you can be stunning while being international in quite a different way.  Born in Siberia (Russia, for those of you who may be less worldly) she has since found herself on the beaches of Miami and has been enjoying it for a little over 5 years.  Her sultry looks, and curvaceous body doesn’t necessarily reflect the style of European fashion community, so when Victoria wound up on South Beach, the masses suggested she try the modeling field, and thank God she did.

Victoria has danced every style down to stripping, and is extremely athletic.  Being gorgeous is far from her only asset, she claims to be very athletic, a sports fan, and was also an avid swimmer and theater actress in her yester-years.  Her all natural body has her being looked at for Event Promotion, Go-go Dancing, Music Promotion/Music Video work, Glamor, Runway, Print, Fitness, Victoria even says she wouldn’t mind being one of the women who struts around the ring at an MMA fight.  So enjoy the photos, Vicky M is definitely on her way to making waves in the urban modeling industry.

Top 6 TV Theme Songs.

The Best Superbowl Ad Is Right Here.

While the internet is abuzz with all the best new Super Bowl ads and trailers, I’ve decided to go in the opposite direction and celebrate some of the equally entertaining 30 second bits from the past.  TV theme songs have been memorized and recited since television first came onto the screen, but the 6 old school anthems I will always remember, are below.  And before I get a flurry of emails asking why I chose 6 instead of 5, or telling me that the intro to Sarah Palin’s reality TV show trumps them all, lets not forget this is all MY personal opinion, and I’m just sharing for the personal enjoyment of my peers.

Want To Win The Lottery?

The random winning numbers on lottery tickets aren’t exactly random at all.  Mohan Srivastava is the man who figured out how to beat a scratch lottery game — and he has no desire to profit from it.  Srivastava, who was featured in this month’s Wired magazine, is a geological statistician by trade and is naturally adept at analyzing numbers and realizing patterns. His day job involves scoping out potential gold mines and determining the how much gold they might contain.  Cracking the lottery wasn’t all that different. Srivastava, using the same math, was able to predict winning tickets for a Canadian Tic-Tac-Toe scratch lottery game 9 out of 10 times.

The method is surprisingly simple but his road to discovery involved a bit of chance.  Holding degrees from MIT and Stanford, Srivastava was never drawn to the allure of the lottery — given the inherent propensity to lose long term. When a friend gave him a couple of cheap scratch games as a joke, he didn’t think much of it. But one of the tickets turned out to be a winner. Srivastava was intrigued.

As a trained statistician with degrees from MIT and Stanford University, Srivastava was intrigued by the technical problem posed by the lottery ticket. In fact, it reminded him a lot of his day job, which involves consulting for mining and oil companies. A typical assignment for Srivastava goes like this: A mining company has multiple samples from a potential gold mine. Each sample gives a different estimate of the amount of mineral underground. “My job is to make sense of those results,” he says. “The numbers might seem random, as if the gold has just been scattered, but they’re actually not random at all. There are fundamental geologic forces that created those numbers. If I know the forces, I can decipher the samples. I can figure out how much gold is underground.”

Srivastava realized that the same logic could be applied to the lottery. The apparent randomness of the scratch ticket was just a facade, a mathematical lie. And this meant that the lottery system might actually be solvable, just like those mining samples. “At the time, I had no intention of cracking the tickets,” he says. He was just curious about the algorithm that produced the numbers. Walking back from the gas station with the chips and coffee he’d bought with his winnings, he turned the problem over in his mind. By the time he reached the office, he was confident that he knew how the software might work, how it could precisely control the number of winners while still appearing random. “It wasn’t that hard,” Srivastava says. “I do the same kind of math all day long.”

Srivastava had been hooked by a different sort of lure—that spooky voice, whispering to him about a flaw in the game. At first, he tried to brush it aside. “Like everyone else, I assumed that the lottery was unbreakable,” he says. “There’s no way there could be a flaw, and there’s no way I just happened to discover the flaw on my walk home.”

A New Hublot Masterpiece.

Following on from the Big Bang, King Power and Classic Fusion collections, Hublot is now presenting the fourth new line of watches, entitled Masterpiece.  Imagined, developed and manufactured entirely by the Confrerie Horlogere Hublot, the Master Piece MP-01 is the first Hublot barrel-shaped watch.  Featuring tonneau-shaped design, the movement is built on 43 jewels and comprises 384 parts.  The three-barrel layout of the movement allows for a healthy power reserve of 10 days with a special power reserve indicator visible through the watch’s transparent case back cover.  The dial is partially skeletonized with no self-luminated hands or markers and covered by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The markers are an aluminum grid that are attached to the bezel.  The watch dial was skilfully openworked by expert hands so that the fine mechanics of the chronograph can be admired.  There are three counters indicating: the chronograph seconds at 3 o’clock and the chronograph minutes at 9 o’clock, along with a small seconds counter at 6 o’clock.  Another special feature to highlight is the indexes, which continue beyond the titanium bezel.  Produced in a numbered series of just 100 pieces, the Hublot MasterPiece MP-01 will be soon available for around $80,000.

Screw Rings, Who Needs Diamonds?

Not impressed with diamonds or carat size? The M3 and M4 rings might appeal to you. Each stainless steel screw is set in sterling silver, cut to reveal the screw threads. It’s even removable should you suddenly need a screw in that size for some emergency. Screwdriver not included.

Scarlett Johansson for Mango.

For the warmest seasons of 2011 Mango has chosen to continue their collaboration with Scarlett Johansson who is the spokesmodel for the brand since 2009.  The ad campaign was shot at the Casa la Ricarda in Barcelona by Mario Sorrenti.  Jane How was styling director for the shoot, while hair and makeup were by Aaron de Mey and Oribe respectively.  The new Mango collection, called Modernist Resort, has gone for a clean, modernist look with a focus on simple lines and minimalist silhouettes that use bright colours and graphic contrasts in the stripes to add energy.  The longer skirt move towards pencil styles and slightly fuller forms, adding movement and sensuality.

Rocks For Cushions?

Ronel Jordaan has been making rock cushions since December 2004. Not only that, but Ronel’s rock cushions is also way better looking than the ones from Livingstones. When you compare the two, you will be absolutely amazed how real Ronel’s “rock cushions” look.  Jordaan’s cushions are also completely hand-made, hand-dyed, hand-carded, made out of felt, and have no stitches. What you end up with is a much better result. It is not several pieces of textile put together and made to look like a rock. It has a more complete feel.  You can get the rocks in several colors like cream, pale brown, pale grey, mid grey, dark grey, charcoal, brown, and DK brown. And, they come in several sizes ranging from small 35x30x18cm (14x12x7 inches) to gigantic 65x65x35cm (26x26x14 inches).

The BEST Drinking Game Ever In Life.

So, while in L.A., I was chillin with my good friend and business partner, and we decided that the clubs were a bit boring.  We’ve both clubbed a bit too much for the weekend, and we were over the scene for the night, so we decided to go back to my hotel and kick it with some folks.  In the process, I’m pretty sure I created one of the most ridiculous drinking games I’ve come up with in the last few years.  The HBO hit series Entourage has been one of my favorite shows for quite some time, so we started watching and put some rules into effect.  With the help of a set of drinking dice that were labeled with phrases like “Sip”, “Drink 2 Cups”, “Bottoms Up”, “Drink Half Cup”, “No Drinks”, “Drink 2 Cups”, and “Drink At Will”, I devised one simple rule.  Every time Ari Gold says the word “F*ck” or any derivative of said obscenity, we roll the dice, and drink as instructed.  We started with season 5, and by the second episode, all parties involved were plastered, and by episode 4 we ran out of liquor.  All in all it was a fun night, and I’m fairly certain that the next time I’m taking a break from work on the weekends, I’m sure to play the game again.  And if your feeling a bit frisky, but you don’t have the dice we used, just take a simple shot of whatever you have whenever Mr. Gold utters the F word.  Here’s a sample, enjoy the results.
