Danny MacAskill – Way Back Home.

So, I feel like drinking and entertaining a crowd with music are the two of the three things I’ve found out its very hard to school me on, but out side of those areas, I’m always open learning more about anything.  So when I got school recently on what “impressive BMX” really looks like, I wasn’t really upset.  I posted up a video on BMX tricks not too long ago, and my boy Eddy promptly showed me a video from Danny MacAskill.  This kid pulls some mind blowing stunts with so much ease, its retarded.  Check the method below.

Let Me Just Make This Statement Loud And Clear, Jersey’s Here.

So I want to make this perfectly clear before I begin, I have nothing against Jersey Shore, Jerseylicious, or The Real House Wives Of New Jersey.  So now that we have that out of the way, I’m writing this because DJ Pauly D was in San Francisco recently, spinning at one of the largest clubs in the bay.  (And congrats to him, I spun that club when I was 21, but it only took him 2 years of being famous and 30 years of life to get on the same tables).  But after his club appearance, I was hit with a blazing tempest of questions about New Jersey from people… Questions like if everyone in NJ is like the cast of Jersey Shore/Jerseylicious, or folks asking me how it feels to have the most influential people out of New Jersey to be J-Wow and Snookie.  I even had someone ask if my mother was like one of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey”.  So I just want to make this clear to a few folks, and make a ”short” list of people who have done something substantial that were born or raised in New Jersey, just so were clear.  Check the method below.

People NOT from New Jersey…

These Idiots.

Jessica Castillo.

So in my never ending search for incredible models, Jessica Castillo came into my sights.   This glamor model from South London was born and raised in South America but relocated to London England roughly 7 years ago.   Jessica claims to be a fun, bubbly and outgoing, ambitious model who loves the industry.
Her career has only lasted a few years, but already she’s been an impressive number of photo and video shoots.
Her natural, and quite stunning curves have even propelled her in the direction of some erotic/nude shoots, which says she is very good at.  Apparently the market in London isn’t too saturated with models willing to try those types of shoots, which makes Castillo a commodity.  She is not however a pornographic talent.  (Sorry ladies, but I don’t feature pornstars on the blog.) Aside from glamor and erotic/nude, Jessica has her heart on editorial, print and anything else that is hot and creative. She’s a rare find, and a model who’s very determined, reliable, professional and is willing to put 100% into any work project that comes her way.

5 Myths You’d Never Think Were True.

The show Mythbusters (filmed right in the same Bay Area that I happen to reside in) is all about testing myths and legends from all over the world using scientific methods, and incontrovertible proof.  If you haven’t already seen it, its a great show, and wildly popular among the nerd community.  The only reason the show isn’t a bigger phenomenon than it all ready is, is because the team on the show tends to test seemingly random stuff that’s either not seen in everyday life, or myths you wouldn’t be familiar with.  (Like sticking your hand in molten Lead.)  But some of the most interesting myths they’ve gotten to the bottom of, are some of the simplest.  Check some of these 5 below.

5.) You Can Actually Slap Sense Into Someone

Who hasn’t seen a groggy character in some movie get his faculties restored by a good, hard SMACK? But, since we’re all rational, intelligent people, it is our default position to disbelieve everything the world of cinema presents us, and to show disdain to anyone who falls for this crap… only it’s true.  A sharp slap was shown to improve alertness and mental acuity, information I’m certain no one would think of using as an excuse to smack the taste out of irritating individuals mouth… right?

4) Nervousness Can Cause Cold Feet

Apparently not everyone who came up with these expressions back in the old-timey days was zonked out on opium-laced cough syrup. This old saw proved to have some honest veracity to it: They had Tory, Grant and Kari face their worst fears and monitored the temperature of their feet — Grant and Kari showed a significant decrease, but Tory’s results were inconclusive, thus the determination of “Plausible.” Gotta love the video,  I’m not even particularly arachnophobic, but the conetent creeps people the hell out.

3) Elephants Are Really Afraid of Mice

This was the very myth that inspired the creation of this list in the first place.  To buy into an absurd cartoon stand-by like this would be akin to believing rabbits tend to cross-dress and hit on speech-impaired hunters. And yet, when presented with the meek little rodent, the formidable beasts not only took notice, but did their best to avoid the tiny creatures.  True, they didn’t freak out, jump up on their hind legs and go “EEK!” But the very fact that they didn’t simply ignore the mice, as Adam and Jamie predicted, makes this quite a humbling entry.

2) An Ultrasonic Motion Sensor Can Be Thwarted by a Bedsheet

This was one of those myths where upon hearing the “logic” behind how it’s supposed to work, the viewer suspects it’s the product of a poor understanding of the device in question, but nope, this one’s totally accurate: A simple sheet draped over the head was able absorb the sound waves emitted by an ultrasonic motion sensor. It seemed to kinda cut down on visibility, but I assume one could always cut eye holes, if they don’t mind sneaking through the lair of a supervillain looking like a Peanuts cartoon ghost.

1) Cursing Aloud Helps People Tolerate Pain More than Not Cursing

This is pretty f*cking cool. This test makes you wonder what it is about those words? Screaming “fiddlesticks” at the top of your lungs won’t produce the same effect, so it can’t simply be the yelling.  Regardless, this myth isn’t just a convenient excuse for the use of “colorful metaphors,” it’s backed up by the experimental data. And you have to admire the clever apparatus they designed so the viewers wouldn’t be scandalized by watching Kari’s spew obscenities. So, I’ve so far shown the values of physical violence AND obscene language — who says blogs aren’t informative.

Pusha T and Bangladesh Studio Session.

Producer Bangladesh may be most noted for his work with Lil Wayne, but this self proclaimed “super producer” has moved past his work on ‘A Millie” and “6 Foot 7″ to work with Pusha T.  The untitled project still seems to be in its vaguest stages, but take a look at the short docu-video to get some hints on Pusha T’s next project produced by Bangladesh himself.

Li Wei’s Impossible Photos.

Li Wei, a contemporary artist from Beijing China, has been taking self portraits to new heights… literally.  His gravity defying photos have been mesmerizing the world, capturing impossible looking moments of apparent extreme danger.  You’ll find Wei hanging on in dangerous situations, or crashing head on into sidewalks and cars.  Li Wei states that these images are not computer montages and that he works with the help of props such as mirrors, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatics. He then removes the wires and scaffolding with Photoshop to create these seemingly impossible photos.  “My artistic language is universal and deals with themes about contemporary politics and society using symbols understood by everyone in every part of the world. I am fascinated by the unstable and dangerous sides of art…”  Here’s a collection of some of Wei’s most outstanding photos (including what seems to be his signature “missle in the ground” pose), in a unique combination of artistry and acrobatics that are sure to make you take a second look.
