10 Of The Best Concepts Never Made.

After a watching barrage of sci-fi movies from the late 90′s and early 2000′s over the last week, I’ve come to realized that people ALWAYS get “the future” wrong.  Film makers can never get the heads around where technology is going, so when you see “futuristic movies” from 7 years ago, the actors always have ridiculous gadgets that we’ve already come light years ahead of.  So when I started finding concepts for devices that actual designers think will be in our future, I had to post them.  These are 1o of the most functional, reasonable designs that I personally feel like will come to fruition.

10.

This watch tells time in an extraordinary way. Turkish designer Iskender Asanaliev created a design where the LED hour hand doubles as the digital minute display.

9.

7.

This sleek 4D Watch was created by Balykin Pavel. It has 4 square screens to display hours, minutes, seconds and date information. The metallic finish and a strong magnetic grip closure complete the picture.

6.

Identita Home Seating

Identita is a chair concept designed for a home cinema. Hakan Bogazpinar brings us a home theatre seating solution that foregoes the traditional chair for a seating solution that is completely adjustable and ergonomic.

5.

Flee Camera

Flee is a concept by Hakan Bogazpinar which takes the idea of a tossable camera a few steps further. Bogazpinar has incorporated a tail into the design to keep the camera oriented properly and Bluetooth so that pictures it takes can be sent back to your mobile device in real time. When the “flee” is thrown in the air, it takes photos at customizable time intervals.

4.

Equilibrium Suspension Lighting

EQUILIBRIUM – A suspension lamp made of high-density expanded polyurethane with high-gloss paint finish. Balance is created with a solid counterweight in one end that equals the weight of the rest of the lamp. Created by Nuno Teixeira.

Susan Coffey

Everyone knows the women regular routine for women featured on the blog, but today I figured I’d switch it up just a bit.  I’ve got an eye for more than just the super seductive video models, and thick vixens that usually sprinkle the blog, especially when it comes to women from my home state of Jersey.  Model Susan Coffey is a 20 year old New Jersey native (Metuchen, holla) and has quite the impressive portfolio.  With her etherial mystique, a hypnotizing look, and a great selection of photographers taking her pictures, she’s managed to amass a crazy online following, and doesn’t seem to be slowing down what so every.  Check the method, and know that no matter what type of girl a guy may be into… You can find one in Jersey.

Cassidy vs. Game?

Some dope studio footage of Cassidy and Game collaborating on a track yet to be released.

Have You Seen The Non-Sign?

A U.S. art studio called Lead Pencil Studio has created a sculpture on the border between the United States and Canada that consists of a blank space in the shape of a billboard, surrounded by tangled metal.  Titled Non-Sign II, the piece was commissioned by the U.S. government. The artists behind it are Annie Han and Daniel Mihalyo, who’ve won numerous awards for their work over the last decade. The pair carefully twisted metal to give the appearance of a ghost of one of the billboards that populate the area.

The ‘Remora’ Super Yacht.

UK-based design consultancy Claydon Reeves has unveiled an 80m superyacht christened ‘Remora’ at the 2010 Monaco Yacht Show.  The sleek craft is characterized by a narrow plumb bow, highly resolved, dynamic, taut surfaces and concave glass angling to its tapering stern.  The elaborate structure of the sundeck is a nod to Spanish Modernisme architect Antonio Gaudi and an indication of Claydon Reeves’ aesthetic ambitions.  A strong emphasis is placed upon the interplay of concave and convex surfaces to create intriguing reflections and highlights.  From the front the Remora resembles the Philippe Starck-designed superyacht ‘A’.  The yacht’s interior consists of vast architecturally interesting spaces including a double height main deck mezzanine, soaring forward public areas and duplex guest suites.  The Owner’s suite features a private deck aft of the bridge for a truly seigneurial experience.  The yacht’s high tech looks are matched by the equipment in its engine room: a state-of-the-art diesel electric propulsion system mated to a pair of azimuthing drive pods…  I’m on a boat b*tch.

Lloyd Banks Hunger For More Official Album Art.

Lloyd Banks new album “The Hunger For More 2″ has become much more than simply highly anticipated, and with the track-list just being released, one can see why.  From features by Tony Yayo, Styles P, Pusha T, Juelz Santa, Raekwon, Eminem, Kanye West, Fabolous, and many more, this one is sure to become a classic, quickly.

‘The Hottest In The Hood’

The buzz surrounding C.I. Bang’s most recent project has growing by leaps and bounds as every day passes. His mixtape “The Process” is nearing completion, and while void of a final release date, I was able to grab a few samples to spread to his fans online. Click the pic above to download C.I. Bang’s “Hottest In The Hood”

The Force Unleased 2.

If you happen to follow me on twitter, you know I just copped an Xbox 360, (Its only significant, because I haven’t play videogames in 4 years, and all my boys think its funny to try and destroy my free time.)  But right now I’m trying to figure out which games to get a hold of, and which ones can wait, and when I saw the 4-minute-long trailer for “Force Unleashed 2″ I knew I had to get it.  I know this footage is a bit dated, but it’s still quite impressive… check the method below.

The Worlds Most Talented Man?

I would hope that everyone is familiar with the 2008 movie “The Brothers Bloom“.  One of the characters in the story is a woman named Penelope who ‘collects tallents’, from juggling, to break-dancing to anything else you can think of.  Its such an interesting premise for a character one would think it would be almost impossible in real life.  Wrong.  Every so often I come across some ridiculous video of some man juggling, or some kids free running, but the guy in this next video can literally do it all… at the same time.  Watch your ass Penelope.

The Citation Ten

Cessna Aircraft announced yesterday that it will build a larger, advanced version of its Citation X business jet, called the Citation Ten.  The new Citation Ten is scheduled to be in the air by late 2011 and delivered to the first customer in 2013.  The jet is 15 inches longer and will fly farther and carry more weight than the $22 million, eight-seat Citation X.  The Citation Ten will have a longer range and faster rate of climb speed than the previous model.  The Citation Ten has improved Rolls-Royce Plc engines, a new cabin-management system for better entertainment and connectivity, and a new cockpit avionics system built by Garmin Ltd.  The Citation Ten cabin mockup on display here has a techno-club design theme that eschews the traditionalism so prevalent in many midsize aircraft.  The 15-in fuselage plug enabled designers to add five to six inches of extra legroom for each passenger, an improvement long sought by customers.  The plug also increases the space between the two club sections so that all eight chairs can be fully reclined.  Redesigned passenger chairs are roomier, but they have retractable armrests to prevent them from crowding the cabin.  The cabin will be 25 ft long, but it’s still 5.7 ft high and 5.5 ft wide, making it the smallest cross-section in the midsize class.  Each passenger has an LCD touch-screen control display unit that doubles as a video monitor. These devices control cabin lighting, air-conditioning and audio-visual systems.  High-speed Internet browsing, satellite radio and cabin Wi-Fi will be available as options… So who wants to roll to Tokyo?

Thank You To My Supporters.

I know not all my fans are as eager to show their love for my work as the chick who emailed me this picture, but I still want to take the time to thank everyone who’s made the success of this blog possible so far.  I’ve never felt like, on the journey that is my career, that I’ve gotten to where I am alone, and this blog is a reflection of that.  I wanna give a huge thank you to all the promotional companies that shoot me info about their events, especially my people at Above Ground, Set4Life, F.A.2.E., and Pete’s Tavern.  I have to shout all the lovely models like Brit Bliss, Csilla Ray, Tammy Torres, and Jenna Luv who’s pictures bring hundreds of guys to the blog,  And I can’t forget artists like Rob Scott, C.I. Bang, Cassfly, G.O.V., and Tokyo 24 who use this blog as an avenue to put out their newest tracks, or the photographers and illustrators like Lauren Johnson, Brittany Jeffers, Michael Tudor, or Rodney Young who’s work always becomes the centerpiece whenever its up.  All of the random stories and subjects that go up are found be either myself or my assistant, and are painstakingly filtered through every single day.  (literally).  I’m glad all the work is paying off, so my final thank you has to go to all the viewers, the hundreds of subscribers, and all the people who put up with my posting stories on their Facebook pages all day long.  Thanks so much.

More to come…

Absolute Glimmer.

Each year Absolut Vodka produces a limited edition bottle to celebrate the festive season some of which I’ve already put up on the blog.  This year, they’ve created “Absolut Glimmer”.  This limited edition packaging follows in the footsteps of Absolut Bling Bling, Absolut Disco, Absolut Rock Edition, and In An Absolut World Every Night is a Masquerade.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Marking the first time Absolut has changed the shape of its iconic bottle, ABSOLUT GLIMMER has been designed in crystal pattern-shaped glass.  The concept was to make the bottle mimic the look of classically cut crystal and when placed in various light conditions, the bottle will appear differently as it reacts to the light.  A special signature cocktail has also been created for Absolut Glimmer, taking a pure and minimalist approach to showcase the vodka.  That cocktail, Absolut Crystal Clear, is simply Absolut Vodka and sparkling water poured over ice.  ABSOLUT GLIMMER is produced in a series of 4.8 million bottles. It launched globally in the Fall of 2010.

J Cole Live On Stage At Rutgers.

I got a hold of some footage of a recent J Cole performance in my home state of New Jersey.  He tore down the stage at Rutgers, and in the process even did some production on stage.  Check the footage below from via Hot Mop.

Toshio Okazaki’s Ultraman Paintings.

Ultraman is a character featured in tokusatsu television programs in Japan. Ultraman made his debut in the tokusatsu SF/kaiju/superhero TV series, Ultraman: A Special Effects Fantasy Series, a follow-up to the television series Ultra Q.   Artist Toshio Okazaki painted some hyper-realistic drawings of Ultraan characters for the Shōgakukan’s edition of Ultra Kaiju published in 1979.

More 3D projections.

Not month or two ago, I featured an incredible 3D light show which was presented in Ukraine, celebrating the city of Kharkov and the country’s Independence Day. Since word on the street is, you guys enjoyed the show, here is another fascinating architectural projection, this time in Autostadt, Wolfsburg. If you are not yet familiar with the concept of architectural projection mapping, know that this has to do with projecting images on buildings (to explain things in their simplest form). We find this idea and these manifestations absolutely delightful and we think that in the case of public celebrations, they have a wonderful effect. We are certain that this revolutionary concept will be taken further and that we will hear a lot more about architectural projection mapping in the future.

Alexis Lugo

Most of the models I feature on the blog happen to be older than me, so when I found one my age, I had to show some support.  Her name is Alexis Lugo, a 24 year old model who’s an amazing mix Puerto Rican,Greek and Hawaiian.  She’s currently working as a promotional model looking for different ways to further her modeling career.  Alexis has worked with ‘Dime Piece Magazine’, ‘Smooth Girl’, ‘ODC’ and many others.  She says she’d love to do print work, and knows that her look allows her to pull of many different styles. “[I'm] open minded to all styles “as long as they are tasteful.”

Nottz – You Need This Music.

The lyricist known as Nottz is dropping his new album today.  From some of the quick samples I’ve heard, it’s enough to make me want to grab a copy.  And while my personal opinion may not be enough to convince you, check out the video for the intro to the album.  (It’s rare when an artist takes the time to create a video for just his intro).   The video (below) features Travis Barker, a crazy bass line, and sends the message that Nottz new album is a departure from the generic vibe of the current direction of rap, and a triumphant return to the art form that originated as hip hop.  The video is dope, so check the method below, and go get the album.

Kids Furniture Keeps Getting Sicker.

The Wave Chaise in the images below is a perfect piece of modern furniture for a teenager’s room.  I can definitely see this thing expanding as time goes on, with the Wave Chaise possibly becoming the home entertainment oasis nerds the world over have been dreaming about for so long. The Wave Chaise would perfectly fit into a smaller apartment, converting a corner of it into the home theater setup people always wanted. The Wave Chaise looks great, has plenty of storage space for multimedia and books, comes with plenty of built-in gadgets, it’s ergonomic and comfortable, and, its quite pleasant to the eye. Designed by Roberta Ramme, the Wave Chaise is definitely something to consider, both by furniture manufacturers and by prospective customers.  I’d take mine in black.

There’s A New ‘Barbee’ In The Playhouse.

Barbee

Don’t be fooled by the similarity in names, this up-and-coming musical dynamo named “Barbee” has nothing to do with Nicki Minaj.  The cover of a recent issue of “Hip Hop Weekly” displays her next to Nicki with the caption “Barbee vs. Barbie”, and I don’t know the story behind the headline, but we’ve all seen that its not too often people know what the hell Nicki Minaj is talkin’ about. I was introduced to Barbee’s work by good friend Paris Reid recently, and have been paying the utmost attention ever since.  below is an excerpt from her website Barbee Playhouse.com.

The name Barbie is categorized by many as the name of a star like doll for girls. Barbie symbolizes endless change but constant quality. In this regard Barbee the singer is much like her doll counterpart. Barbee was born Faith J Eselebor in New York City. This unknown little girl eventually metamorphosed into a recording artiste, song writer, fashion model and now worldwide superstar. With a Nigerian father and a Jamaican mother Barbee began singing at the age of five, and by age 11 she was the leader of her traveling choir “Perfect Praise”. At age 16 Barbee was as a member of a girl group called “Best Kept Secret”. The group opened for acts such as rappers Jadakiss, Cameron and others. However, due to circumstances, the group broke up. This would have discouraged many persons, but not Barbee. Choosing to persevere, it was obvious it was time to go solo and she did so in a spectacular way by recording her first single “Missing You” with the culturally riveting Jamaican artiste Junior Kelly. The single received tremendous airplay throughout the Caribbean the northeast United States), Canada, and West Africa. It was number 3 on the charts in Jamaica and became a street anthem.

From as early as five years old young Barbee developed an affinity for music and by the time she was age 11 she was the leader of her traveling choir Perfect Praise. Five years later at age 16 Barbee formed a singing group called “Best Kept Secret”, which saw her writing songs and using beats from producer Just Blaze. Barbee and her group soon made a mockery of the name ‘Best Kept Secret’ as there was nothing hidden about their talent which was exhibited for all to see at the talent shows performances and other venues.

Due to years traveling between her parents’ native countries, Barbee soon developed a natural love for Jamaican music. This love showed in her first single “Missing You”. In 2007 (the same year she released her first single) the young artist also worked with the king of the dancehall “Beenie Man”, being featured on the Revenge Riddim and in the video of Beenie Man’s hit single “Give It Up” earning her, her first number on the charts. The success of the single with Beenie Man opened the international market to Barbee, and she grabbed it with both hands. Later that year she recorded “Paddy cake” (featuring Beenie Man), “Diva in My Sneakers” and “Light Some Candles tonight”. In 2008 Barbee released the hit single “Love You Anyway” which graced all major reggae charts globally. The video for “Love You Anyway” received heavy rotation on several Jamaican radio stations and cable stations, thus showing its prestige.

In 2009 the recording artist came out of the studio with a new single produced by Dean Fraser, a cover version of Karen white’s song “Can I stay with you”. However, what can be sighted to be her best work for 2009 is her hot single “Feel So Good” (also produced by Dean Fraser). The single also yielded a sexy yet copasetic video which received global accreditation. Barbee will also be doing an appearance cameo in a move named “House Arrest, Staring Stacy Dash and the Game. The film, described as a “dramedy” by director Billy Washington, centers around a “high maintenance girl who meets a quick money scheming man.”

Barbee has had several mind blowing performances for 2009. These include the 20th Annual Susquehanna Community Festival in Philadelphia, which she performed alongside Hall of Famer Jazz/R&B icon Bobby Womack, whose music is both legacy and as current as love, the legendary Cuba Gooding Jr. & the Main Ingredients, songbird Carol Riddick, hip hop legend Biz Markie, rapper Tuffest and Sledge. The “Love You Anyway” sexy singer also hit The Brooklyn Music Festival Father’s Day tribute which pulled a huge crowd, all of which enjoyed every moment of the dancehall doll along with Beenie Man, Capleton, Mavado, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, and Tarrus Riley.

Barbee and the Dance Expression group took California by storm, where she left her mark as one of the stars of reggae, alongside Junior Reid, and others. She also had a remarkable performance during the Irie Reggae Festival where she got the crowd nice and energized right before legendary Beres Hammond came out to perform. One of the largest crowds in the Northeast of the United States was when she did the most spectacular performance ever for the New Jersey Reggae Fest. Barbee captivated the crowd with her sexy dance moves and beautiful voice to top it all off.

Barbee is expanding her love for music and sexy, sultry dance moves to others by recently opening her very own music studio in Manhattan, called The Rare Diamond, as well as putting together a captivating dance group called the Dance Expression Group. The sky is not the limit for this sassy singer, she claims the universe. There is just no telling what this Devoted, Talented, and Energetic Singer going to do next. Barbee is becoming a household name in reggae music, as versatile and creative as she is fulfilling the request of her fans all over the world, and doing an excellent job at it.

Check out a pre-video of Barbee’s new collabo with Trina entitled “Come See About Me”, and stay tuned for more info on Barbee soon to come.

I Don’t Like The Look Of It – Music Video

I got a sneak peek at the new Gudda Gudda ft. Lil Wayne video last week, and was finally allowed to drop it today.  The video features a new beat, and is missing the signature “I don’t like the look of it”, Willy Wonka sample.  I’m still not sure how I feel about the new re-worked beat, but It’s already on BET, so I guess soon enough people who were used to the original will have to re-adjust to the changes.  Check the method below.

LG’s Next Future Phone Concept.

I used to have a few LG phones back in the day, and in my personal opinion, LG needs to stop making iPhone “killers” and start making crazy designs like the cell phone that turns into headphones. At least it’s something innovative. The Hi-Fi, headphone turning cell phone was one of the winners among LG’s Design the Future competition.  If this ever ends up becoming a real product, it may turn some heads. Of course there are going to be a lot of questions regarding the design and functionability of the phone but the future looks bright for LG. They just need to stop trying to compete with Apple and just design their own cool phones and gadgets that work.

What Would You Do If You Saw This?

Alexa Meade thinks completely backwards. Most artists use acrylic paints to create portraits of people on canvas. But not Meade – she applies acrylic paints on her subjects and makes them appear to be a part of the painting.  Meade is an installation artist based in the Washington, DC area. Her innovative use of paint on the three dimensional surfaces of found objects, live models, and architectural spaces has been incorporated into a series of installations that create a perceptual shift in how we experience and interpret spatial relationships. “I paint representational portraits directly on top of the people I am representing. The models are transformed into embodiments of the artist’s interpretation of their essence. When captured on film, the living, breathing people underneath the paint disappear, overshadowed by the masks of themselves.” – Alexa Meade

Golden Monopoly.

A Monopoly board game made out of solid gold and encrusted with jewels is currently on display at The Museum of American Finance in New York City, and NO, Diddy doesn’t own it… yet.  The gold-bound game was created by jeweler Sidney Mobell, who started in 1988 and worked every day for a year on creating the Monopoly game.  The board is made in 23 carat gold plate, and all the little houses and hotels are 18 carat solid gold. On the chimneys of houses are genuine rubies, on the chimneys of the hotels are genuine sapphires.  A glittering topaz marks the light bulb on the “Electric Company” space, and a ruby drips from the faucet on “Water Works.”  “If you take a look the dice are 18 carat solid gold and there are diamonds embedded in each one of the numbers. The little thimble, the race car, all the little tokens are 18 carat solid gold,” said Mobell.  It is believed to be the most expensive Monopoly game on the planet. Mobell said the game has an estimated value of $2 million, but added the precious game is priceless.  In 2003, Mobell donated the game to the Smithsonian, which is affiliated with the Museum of American Finance.  “Monopoly is a very symbolic game in America,” said David Cowen, president of the Museum of American Finance, on Friday morning.  “It was popularized during difficult financial times in the 1930s. As the nation again faces difficult economic times, I’m happy to have the item here.”  The gold and gemstone monopoly set will be on display at the Museum of American Finance until October 2012.  All in all, just seeing this game on display reminds me of my favorite commercial on TV now-a-days…
